I think the engineering in this model is amazing, and even better than Optimus Prime. Optimus' vehicle mode is boxy, which works for Lego bricks, but Bumblebee has curved surfaces. As I was building it (in vehicle mode), I kept trying to figure out how it would eventually transform into a robot. And I like how the face and leg plates are printed instead of stickers.
I see other comments complaining about they can't transform the model from vehicle mode to robot model because the instructions aren't clear. To me, the instructions in the manual look exactly like instructions from the original Transformers toys: dashed arrows that you're expected to follow to move the parts. As for the issue of parts falling off, I would suggest moving the parts based on the instructions: in other words, move the pieces from the joint, not the ends. And as always when playing with Lego sets, keep a firm hand on it so the pieces don't fall off. Remember that this isn't a die-cast metal model like the original Transformers toys... and even some of those toys had pieces that would fall off if a part was moved too firmly.
As for people who are "voting" for models of Decepticons, keep in mind that Lego *never* makes military models. This means Megatron (transforms into a gun), Starscream (transforms into an F-15 fighter jet), and so on, won't be turned into a Lego set. But maybe Lego can make the sci-fi Decepticons like Galvatron, Cyclonnus, Scourge, or Unicron.

The model looks good. When you try moving it to transform it falls apart.

Icons Bumblebee disappointment

As an Icons set I feel there should be more focus on details and how it displays than on playability. I want my Lego Icons transformer to have great detail for display like other Lego Icons. I don't need it to actually transform. That would be for a different series of Lego.

Oh no! Sorry that everything wasn’t awesome with the Bumblebee set. We work hard to make sets that everyone can enjoy and your feedback helps us make them even better. We’ll share your comments with our design teams to help with future sets.
I'll start with the biggest negative with this set, the pieces feel like they are from a knock off brand (at least in the order I got). A lot of the exterior pieces you have to interact with to transform it just fall off at the slightest touch, pieces that I don't even touch have just randomly falls off in the process. Even trying to open the doors will result in them coming apart.
Other issues I have with the set are that the shoulder/arms are too bulky, too short and can't articulate enough. At the same time it feels like his legs are too long/thin and could have used some pieces to make them feel a little more in line with the rest of the set. If there were a way to have made the arms longer maybe that would have made the legs look less weird, idk.
Overall if you are a fan of Lego and the G1 characters I would recommend buying just to have in the collection

I bought Optimus Prime at release and had a blast building him! Once they announced Bumblebee, I knew I had to have him too. It was mildly difficult, which I loved! Can’t wait for the next one <3

I'm looking forward to this build. The fact that it is a functional build, meaning it has movable parts and all, is fantastic.

I recently purchased this for my young son’s birthday who loves Transformers. He has other Bumblebee toys, he but was so excited to see this one actually transfers into car. Great design!
