The Interceptor is a great companion to the previously released UCS TIE Fighter, and the other Imperial UCS models. I'm hopeful that at some point the other TIE variants will receive the UCS treatment, but not at the expense of ships from other eras of Star Wars. Only issues I really have are yes the plague is a scratch magnet since it's a glossy finish, but have heard that future sets will revert to the older textured molds. I think that you could keep the glossy plague, but just place it in its own bag, same goes for all clear elements. They are always scratched or scuffed. I miss the old days of the manuals being a bit easier to fly through, as the current glue bound get difficult to spread the book open especially in the middle, but yes are more durable. Not a complaint to get rid of manuals. Please keep them.
I’m an avid UCS collector and this is definitely one of the flimsiest UCS sets I have built. In my opinion the original model was definitely sturdier. It’s a game of which piece is going to fall off once I snap this next one on. It definitely reminds me of the Death Star II build. Wouldn’t fly this one around as you might lose some parts on the way. Overall it’s a nice model if it stays together.
I was in middle school when the first UCS TIE Interceptor came out, but wasn't able to get it. Twenty-five-ish years later, I got this remake. The cockpit was a fun build, though unsurprisingly, the wings were a bit repetitive (you know what you're getting into when buying this). Overall, nice build experience with a very aesthetically pleasing end result.
First Star Wars set so I decided to go big. Finished product definitely looks great. Only issue is the build. Very flimsy design for such a large and intricate set. Constantly had small pieces falling off in deep pockets during construction, some which I had to leave out because the dislodged so far in to the build I would have needed to deconstruct everything and basically start over. Otherwise, it does look great and definitely display worthy. Would recommend for any Lego fans collection!
