A great portable speaker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Provides great sound using the preset equalizer settings. It is waterproof IP67 so great to clip on the shower rings. It has a Playtime Boost setting for more sound and longer playing time but the equalizer doesnt work with that turned on. To me when I turned on the Playtime Boost it sounded tinny. You can connect to other compatible speakers but you need to make sure they are compatible. The Clip 5 doesn't connect to my Clip 4. The battery life has increased from 10-12 hours from the Clip 4 to the Clip 5.

Small but powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Clip5 is small but packs a punch. It's perfect for on the go like on a hike, bike ride or a walk on the beach. Just clip it to your backpack or jeans and the volume and bass are perfect. Use the app to set your preferred EQ preference and if you have multiple just link them together for even better sound.

Small but mighty

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been needing a small speaker for my bathroom when I shower so this was the perfect addition. I love how this was designed with a clip on hook. This speaker is water proof and super durable. Very easy to clean if anything gets on it. It’s definitely got a lil weight to it, which is great. This little speaker is small but mighty. I can easily take it anywhere with me. I’ve been traveling between my boyfriend’s house and my house and I always want to have a speaker with me in the bathroom so this made my life sooo much easier. It doesn’t take up space and it sounds phenomenal. This speaker is great for everyone whether for travel or to have in the house.

Perfect small speaker that CLIPs everywhere!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sorry for the pun in the title!
This speaker is what was missing in my collection of bluetooth speakers. My default speaker is Charge 5, which is the perfect balance of sound quality, size, and weight for most applications at home or near a car.
But when traveling, especially hiking or even just taking a flight somewhere, Charge becomes too cumbersome. Sure, it's nice to set it up at a hotel and jam to it during evenings or before heading out. But the weight and size of it are prohibitive for traveling, especially during hiking etc.
So Clip 5 is actually very useful for these two things: traveling and hiking. It is very light, very small, and clips anywhere. So even if your backpack is packed tightly, you can always hang it on the outside, as visible in the pictures below.
They say that the best tool is not the one that performs the best, but the one you are most likely to use. In case of Clip 5, I just end up taking it with me because it's so light and compact.
The only reason it's not a perfect speaker is the same reason it's so easy to carry with you: its size and weight. The small volume of the speaker makes it very difficult to reproduce faithful bass, from an engineering point of view. Somehow, though, JBL engineers managed to make it sound bassy even being this tiny! The bass is not true to life, but it's enough. It's enough to indicate where the bass would've been in the music if it was a bigger speaker. You can tell that Clip 5 is pushing physics to its limits by how much the speaker vibrates during the lowest bass it can reproduce.
Here's a tip for Clip 5 owners: put it in a corner to make bass sound almost true. It can be a corner between a shelf or table top and the wall, or a literal corner. The best results are when you place this tiny speaker on a kitchen counter in the corner. Then the bass comes to life fully, surprising everyone.
Battery lasts a decent time, feels close to what's advertised. USB-C chargers are ubiquitous nowadays, so not including one is a smart move by JBL: reduced electronic waste and lower costs!
The clip itself is made of metal, presumably aluminum. The gate also feels like metal, but covered in rubber. The cool thing is that the gate can be fully depressed into the slot on the speaker body, which makes the opening rather large. This makes it easier to clip and unclip it from various places.
Overall, I am loving this speaker for what it is. I'll keep taking it wherever Charge 5 feels cumbersome, and whenever the bass won't seem enough, I'll just put it in the corner.

Tiny and Fierce!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! The first word that comes to mind when I cracked open the new JBL Clip 5 from Harman. How can all that sound come from such a small package?!? Let me explain...
The new and revised Clip 5 offering from JBL offers many upgrades from previous models including better battery life, connectivity, and a larger/durable 'clip' (carabiner) opening to accommodate more areas in which to use this roughly 6x4x2 inch speaker!
The sound is potent with punchy bass emitting from a frequency range of 95hz-20Khz. The sound is nothing short of astounding but also lives up the the JBL reputation of bigger isn't always better. The small palm-of-your-hand sized frame (which is dust and WATER proof) is rugged and can take abuse from most any outdoor activity in which it is used.
Battery life is up to 12hrs with an additional 3hrs of playtime when you turn Playtime Boost (in the JBL Portable App) to the off setting... all this with just a minimal 3 hour charge time from a supplied USB-A to USB-C connecting cable. The cable is short but does the trick and you must supply a wall USB-A compatible charging block yourself.
The speaker is able to be connected to other JBL Portable devices thru AuraCast and the JBL app for a complete party on the go.. whether you're fishing, swimming, beaching, off-roading, partying, or just relaxing.. it just works! I did have trouble when first trying to connect the speaker to the JBL Portable App but soon discovered a quick update of the App fixed all connectivity issues.
The Clip 5 does come in a variety of colors but whatever the color... this thing just ROCKS! The main use I have for the speaker is in my shower. My mornings are started with a bang from this potent little monster! Well worth every penny just as other JBL speakers I have in my collection. The JBL/Harman name is simply synonymous with quality sound and craftsmanship!

Stylish, powerful sound you can easily carry

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a fun, easy to travel, powerful sounding little speaker. The carabiner clip opens easily and closes securely. It fits easily on a backpack, purse, or pant loop. The speaker is light, probably about 1 pounds. Inside the box you will find the speaker and charging cord. Bluetooth pairing works easily, button on the side, volume, pause, play on the front of speaker. There is also a multi-speaker button to connect multiple speakers. I have used it most often in the garage while working out attached to my bag. The speaker provides great sound quality that is balanced. I think it lives up to the 12 hour battery life in between charges. I have taken it in walks with a friend - attached to my fanny pack. I like that I can control the volume easily. I have gotten compliments on the small size and stylish look with great sound. Perfect gift for my on-the-go college aged and high school kids.

Great portable speaker!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is exactly what I needed for work. I go from room to room and want the music to stay contstant. The clip is easy to put on or taking off. The bass is a little heavy against the body but not too much of a distraction. The sound is of good quality and clarity at all volumes. It's light weight but durable. I dropped it a good 4+ft accidentally and it held up just fine. Buttons are easy to use and bluetooth connects fast and easily. Highly recommend!

Great little speaker, big sound in small package

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great little speaker. It really puts out a lot of sound, and even impressed me how much bass it could make for its size. The design is really smart, not just having the built-in clip, but also having isolators on the back so it can sit on a counter or table, and also the ability to stereo and multi-speaker pairing. But it is also a great upgrade from the Clip 4. The size is roughly the same but it has 2hrs more in battery life along with 3 hour playtime boost. It also has Bluetooth V5.3. But another thing I really appreciated about it is the new packaging - while still premium and organized packaging (maybe not quite as good looking) - its smaller and made from all sustainable materials. Applause to Harman for considering this - using less space (i.e. less shipments) and also fully recyclable materials.
