Better sound, flawed improvements

Not a bad speaker, definitely an improvement in sound compared to the clip 4.
Has new/updated features like a bigger carabiner, but the quality of the carabiner is worse than the clip 4.
They used a longer thinner piece of rubber that’s really flimsy, mine pretty much already ripped off.

The rubber ridges on the back are an improvement! Wider pieces that sit in a recess
The metal around the speaker has this coating that scratches off really easy, so beware of chipping.
Can’t say the design is improved, but the sound definitely has.

does not last 3 hours now

great speaker BUT .. i use this primarily outside attached to my golf bag to listen to tunes while playing .. initially it was good battery lasted whole round 4-5 hours. i always charge it after each round .. but after the 3rd round now it will not last past 2 hours.. it is cold out but i cant see why this is not lasting at least 3 hours in cold weather. I was contemplating using it clipped to my backpack for skiing but looks like that wont work . how is it that this is advertised as a up to 12 hours speaks when it cants last 2-3 hours outside?

Thanks for your feedback. Our JBL Clip 5 has up to 15 hours of battery life. This may vary depending on volume and music content. We recommend charging your speaker with an adapter with 5V/1A input for 3 hours. If the speaker doesn't meet the advertised playtime hours even at low to mid-volume levels, there could be a problem with the battery of the unit. Big sound, versatile little speaker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like how JBL upped the functionality of this smaller speaker. Previous small speakers wouldn't have extra functions like skip ahead a song, or back a song. This one does. Previous speakers would basically just have play/pause and volume. It's nice to have that if you would use this as like a shower speaker or something and don't want your phone in with you. It is rated as water proof to a degree, 30 minutes at a meter, so a shower is fine. It has a nice heavy feel and you can tell with the sound, suprisingly loud and good bass sound. I also like that you can now pair it to other speakers in it's class, creating a stereo sound. I might have to get another one to make use of that option. Really sharp look. The clip is heavy duty enough that I'm not worried about it breaking or not holding up. There's a JBL Portable app for controlling the sound EQ which is nice. They have a "playtime boost" mode where it's louder, and also saves battery which it does at the expense of the EQ sound. So that mode sounds a little tinny, but it's definitely louder and would maybe be good for podcast listening or audio books where you want a little more volume. The back has padded grips so you can set it on it's back and it won't wreck the finish or anything like that.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I like it but..

Compared to my previous clip 3 and clip 4 experience The clip5 is heavier. The sound is nice, maybe better than clip4? But the app was needed to EQ the audio. But the clip5 bsttery life is shorter. The party link mode is cool but I have trouble linking the units(I have 2 clip5) the clip4 was great til i lost it. Clip 3 rip after many years.

This is my second Clip 5. I like how small and portable they are without losing sound quality. The clip for hanging is great but if there is nowhere to hang the clip will not stand on its own because of the curved shape. Overall all a good purchase after all I went back for a second one.

Small, outdoorsy and fun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good small package of sound outdoor speaker, I took this a couple of times to the park while walking and enjoying the afternoon and I also bring it with me while grilling on the porch, i have used it at least 6 hours and battery seems to be holding on pretty good, I really like the possibility to have music on the in really convenient form factor , it is also nice to not be worried about splash and or the need for an electric plug for this to play music, although the sound this speaker emits is not low by any means I can tell that this is certainly a small group of persons and I would say a small reach distant for you to continue to hear it well. Overall, it is nice to have the flexibility of size and ease of transportability to always have favorite music at reach andd ready to go.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good speaker with unique ability to hang in places

The sound is great, better than some bigger speakers. I do wish there was an improvement regarding connecting to the device; I wish there was something to indicate the speaker was on, in pairing mode, and connected.

Amazing little speaker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Clip 5 is an amazing speaker. It's small and lightweight, but it it loud. I was surprised at how loud it would get. I carry it with me every I go. I will take it the shower with me, and I can hear my music clearly at less than 50% volume. Audio and battery are great. You can use the JBL Portable app to adjust the audio, but I'm happy with how it sounds out of the box. Overall I am very happy with the Clip 5.
