Purchased two MXT575's to install in our Jeeps (Gladiator and Wrangler). Very well built, worked as designed and relatively easy to use. The menu acronyms take a little getting used to so keep your owners manual handy. Can't wait to get on the trails and test with obstacles (hills and leaves) to see if the 50W power helps over the MXT275.
I just installed this radio in my 2016 4Runner. I ran the antenna and power through the firewall and installed the base unit under the driver seat. Power is straight to battery. The mic cable was run between the seat and center console, and easily reaches the mic clip mounted on the dash right below the fan knob. I used the MXTA25 Ghost antenna on the MXTA27 universal lip mount, and the mount works perfectly with no harm to the paint. I haven’t tested great distances, but did a short test with a T71VP3 X-Talker and got 1.2mi in a heavily built up area of our city-great!-and I expect no problems at greater distances. SWR is on point right out of the box. I also upgraded the mic to the MXMC01-a great upgrade with larger screen allowing for easier menu options selection and noise canceling capability. This radio and accessories is another exceptional offering by Midland-I use the 75-822, T71VP3, and now MXT575). Thanks to the Midland team!
This is a simple easy radio with max power. Doesn't do multi band scanning. If that's your thing, this might not appeal to you. I have those radios also, but in my vehicle, they are distracting. I want easy and dependable. It's also great for a clean install. Radio fits easily under the seat and the controls are on the mic.
I like that this works with the new mic design. Nice upgrade; however this unit is heavier that the MXT275 it replaced and required me to mount it differently.
I am ham radio operator myself and familiar with radios. I bought for my wife's vehicle so we can communicate at the campsite. Construction design, Material selection is way stronger than mass produce chinese made brand. I am very happy about the fact my wife only has to deal with microphone which is easy to use. my only request for next model will be hand mic size and design so I can easy to hold to operate but very minor problem on my end.
