I had been debating between the MXT275 and MTX575 nearly all summer. After leading a couple groups though remote areas of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I came to the conclusion that goin with the more powerful MTX575 would be the best choice given the thick wooded nature of the UP and to keep in communication with anyone dropping behind. I chose to mount the Head unit under the Steering column where the factory optioned inverter would ordinarily live. I ran a Cat6 Patch cable to the back of my LASFIT Switch group so I could utilize the built in RJ Port. I also chose to wire the Power to one of the spare Aux Switches for a cleaner Power Connection through a relay. So far I am impressed and cannot wait to get into the forest and test the range and capabilities.

I returned the MXT575 when I realized that it didn't have the full compliment of CTCSS tones. There were several local repeater tones that were not available in the MXT575. I really liked the handset and ability to hide the radio chassis. The limited available user programmable channels was disappointing, but not a deal breaker.

The radio is much bigger than the MXT 400. The radio has no way to program by computer making it easier. the radio only has 8 additional repeater slots that I can tell. Really wish it would have a way to program in more repeaters for people who travel to multiple areas.

Installed MXT575 in my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and really like the options of different mounting locations. Install unit under dash just above driver's left foot. New to GMRS and haven't figured out all the different settings and have not tuned the antenna yet. But I range test it anyway. Using two hand held GXT 1000 we got roughly 1.5-1.7 miles of range. Then switched to using the MXT575 and a Midland 40 watt in a friend's jeep and only got about 2 miles range but the woods really got thick. Going a different more open direction we got 4-5 miles range. Gave it 4 stars only because I thought the user manual could have given more information.

Awesome gmrs upgrade from my mxt275. Sound is a lot more clearer and crisp. Setup is simple. Used my current 6db gain antenna and nmo mount for maximum power and range. One other thing i really like is the tone change of the beep. Thank you midland
