Mxt500 radio by Midland is a easy to use radio that will satisfy the user with good range and ease of use. Have ran mine as a mobile and base and it has been dependable in the mountainous area that I live in. Output signal is measuring @ 49 watts. Thanks Midland!
Love this 50W MTX500 !! It is really easy to program and run! Very straight forward and get out!! I talk to people 30 miles away and hit all the local repeaters. LOVE IT!
What an AWESOME transceiver. I am using this as a mobile base station, and both the reception and transmission reception and quality are absolutely amazing. I use this to stay in touch with both my kids as they are walking to/from school. This is an excellent consumer grade radio for those getting into licensed GMRS as both a hobby, and is the perfect set for diving right in for practical use.
Some special notes: You MUST connect this to an adequate power source delivering at least 5 amps of current at 12VDC.
Pros: Love the repeater capability, and is simple enough for me to better understand and learn how repeater technology works; Love the adjustable transmission power on the higher channels. Easy, simple to use and configure.
Cons: I only have one. It is small, but significant to me, in that it lacks a setting to turn on a "Roger Beep". Not a big deal (I simply verbally transmit "over"), but would be nice to have. I am hopeful that this can be added as part of a firmware update.
