IMHO, this is the best GMRS base station radio on the market. I'm very happy with this radio. Build quality is excellent. I don't see it as a mobile solution as in most instalations you would need your eyes off the road to tune it. I have a Midlands MXT575 in my vehicle.

I am totally amazed at the long range of these radios. I now have 3 MXT500 radios; 1 in my truck, 1 in my side-by-side, and 1 in my 5th wheel RV. When boondocking in the San Rafael swell in central Utah where there is no cell coverage, while out on a trail ride over 20 miles from my RV, I was able to have clear communication between my side-by-side and my RV. Now my friends who go camping with us are planning on installing the same radios in their rigs.

Pretty simple install. Turns on, turns off, able to speak and listen. Not sure what else to expect as this is my first one, but there is positive improved difference in the antenna that comes with it and the 6db one.
