I bought this upon release. Everything was perfect, except for one very minor issue in the programming software download from Midland. Channel 8 is locked at low power. To get around that, once the radio is programmed, change the channel on the radio to high power and then read from the radio and the software will be corrected going forward.
Only other thing I wish is that it had more memory for additional repeater channels to be saved (i.e. able to save 100 or 1000 channels to be able to keep more repeaters for travelling outside home area).

Hi guys we are running adventure tours in Baja full time and have found midland to be our radio of choice. First they are so user-friendly. Everything on the face of the unit is easy to find and makes sense. The extra power on this unit has been great when we get into the canyons and are still trying to communicate with the team. We take safety very seriously and midland has given us a simple reliable way to stay in contact with our customers and team. Thanks guys another great product.

Unbeatable clarity!!!

Midland out did it self with this Radio. The features and power and love the look of it too! The audio sounds amazing, everyone who hears me talk on it says there is no comparison to the audio quality of other radios out there. This is my base station radio and talked 45+ miles on simplex and hitting repeaters 80+ miles away, that was just on Medium power too. The split tone is a great feature, plus Choosing between white band and narrow band is so helpful! Has a vary nice display screen with multiple color options and brightness.
The speaker is good and loud for noisy environments and it's water and dust resistance is well done in the connections on the radio and mic.
Another great feature is the NOAA weather radio option with the receiving weather Alerts a must have. The scan feature of this radio has the ability to skip channels you don't want to get stuck on if someone is occupying a particular channel and you what to Ignore that traffic on that channel and keep scanning. Easy to program and use!
Highly recommended!
Looking forward to upgrading my radio to the MXT500 for my car too!!

MTX500 finds it’s way into HQ1

We were fortunate enough to get our hands on one of these bad boys early on and let me tell you, it’s awesome! The MTX500 not only looks great and installs easily but has all the features you’ll need to keep your Comms up and running while out on your adventures. With its 50 watts and a property installed/placed antenna your reach is pretty impressive!
We have had the MTX115, MTX400, GTX1000s and now the MTX500 in HQ1 and have been increasingly impressed with the performance of all the Midland product line!

Excellent range and reliability

Coming from an MXT115, then to an MX400, and now using the MXT500.. I have had nothing but great experience with these micro-mobile units. I would highly recommend these units over the hand helds (although they are great as well) because they have more power, range, and you don't have to worry about battery life. The MXT500 is a big unit. I use Ram-mounts to mount it on my dash. Also note this unit requires you to push the volume button to power. (Some people get confused).
