Nonadjustable lens to aim towards the ground for package delivery view. Motion-door alert latency-not getting notified immediately when motion is detected and someone presses the doorbell. Additional chime is not compatible with v2.
I purchased the Wyze Video Doorbell 2 to replace my Wyze Video Doorbell Pro. The killer feature for me was having full recording to an sd card. The increase in resolution is excellent and the color night mode works quite well. Only downsides are that the camera is not head to toe wide angle so it’s hard to see if packages are sitting on my doorstep, and this camera does not yet work with the Wyze Web View. Setup was very easy and it triggers my original house doorbell.
We absolutely love that it has an sd card and the wider angle. It’s frustrating though to take away functionality since we have the chimes from our other one. We have multiple chimes and loved that we could customize the sound and put them different places. With the size of our house it was perfect to hear the doorbell no matter where you were. Now, it’s back to the regular doorbell. I know it’s somewhat of a small issue, but for us, it’s tempting to return it. We are still debating.
The doorbell works as advertised, but I still feel that they made some odd decisions in its design.
There are 2 things that a six-year-old video doorbell I had previously did better. The older doorbell did not require a separate device inside of the chime in order to work, and it had less delay in ringing the chime. The delay certainly doesn't make it unusable. It just takes a few seconds which was unexpected.
Also I believe it was rather short-sighted to not allow a secondary wireless chime. This is less of an issue for me because I'm able to use echo devices as a secondary chime (with additional delay), but odd they took it away as an option.
The resolution and field of view is better than my old doorbell. I like that it came with a wedge instead of me having to purchase that separately, I do wish it tipped slightly downwards however, I have a lot of sky in my video and I can't quite see my entire front step for packages.
Lastly, It ties in with the rest of my wyze devices, which allows me to use it in rules, unlike my old doorbell.
Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. Hopefully they can reduce the delay a little bit with a firmware update. Maybe on a version 3 they'll bring back the wireless chime and remove the need to have the separate device for it to work.
The video quality of the first generation wyze doorbell is far superior then v2. The picture was clearer and brighter with v1. V2 picture quality is darker and almost retro looking. Not to mention it has fisheye. Secondly, i dont understand why v2 doesn't work with the wyze remote chime as did v1. The reason i got the first generation wyze doorbell is because my in-house doorbell chime stopped working. With the remote chime i was able to plug it anywhere inside my hse to hear. Since v2 does not work with the remote chime, i had to fix my in-house doorbell, Otherwise, i cannot hear the chime from the WVDb v2 device alone. Ridiculous! Another warning. If you want WVDb v2 to ring your in-house doorbell chime, you may need to upgrade the transformer that powers ur in-house doorbell. To a 16v/30va. Ive since learned anything less than 30va is not have enuff to power ur in-house chime and the wyze video doorbell v2 device.
