Exactly the doorbell I was looking for, but with a few detractions. Most of the issues I have are with the app. I bought this doorbell because I wanted local only recording, which it does quite nicely. However,
1. Even though I only want to look at video on the sd card, it seems like every other button exists to sell me on the cam+ service. It is unnecessarily difficult to watch the playback of an event from the sd card. Half the time I still hit the buttons that serve no purpose but to sell me the service. SD card play back should just be default when I click on the notification.
2. Shared accounts cannot see sd card playback, which makes no sense to me. What is the point of sharing my doorbell if my partner can’t see the full features? It tempts me to just give her my account info, which is bad opsec.
3. SD card slot is a little obvious.
Good things:
1. Install was fairly simple. 2. Works well otherwise, most of my issues are app related. 3. I wish there was a way to dump recordings to a NAS, but local storage is such a plus that it makes it better than other doorbell options.
Door bell video is good and clear. Also, response time to view video is good via Wyze app. Haven’t subscribed to any cloud services so I’m using the built in local storage card slot option to record events which is enough for me. Easy to install doorbell. However, haven’t gotten the chime box to work with my existing doorbell chime box. So right now, it sends notification dings to my iphone whenever someone is at the door. I will try to follow instructions again on wiring the Wyze chime box but I’m sure I did it correctly the first time. Now I’m thinking of getting they Wyze lock so that I can pair it with doorbell and be able to open lock for family and friends remotely.
The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 is a great value. It's compact and it provides excellent video quality. It was super easy to install and was set-up in just a few minutes. I love the color video even at night and it's detection capability is fantastic. I purchased the SD card so I have continuous recording but also have bundled with CamPlus. The camera easily integrates with Alexa so now my doorbell is my Alexa which is networked on all devices so I can hear the alerts when someone is approaching the front door. The only disconnect was that I was unable to connect the my existing door chime in the house. I was unable to connect with and without the adapter. That's why I was so glad it integrated with my Alexa. The doorbell is sleek in appearance, functional and a great bargain at its price point.
