the chime controller did not work with our chime. maybe that has to do something with our older tansformer. for now, we have the controller detatched and our wyze doorbell does ring our mechanical chime which is fine. not sure what else is supposed to happen with the chime controller. i plan to look deeper into this when i have more time. the doorbell itself is perfectly functional and we are happy to finally have one on our front door. when someone rings the doorbell, i wish the alert (push notification) could work more like Ring where you get a nice chime and a video of the person ringing your doorbell. apparently wzye doesnt work this way. we just get a simple audible alert like a text message arrived. we paid half the price of Ring but maybe in the future wyze will further develop their user interface and software. overall I would give the wyze doorbell a "B"
I bought this to upgrade my Waze Doorbell v1. I wanted the ability to record to an SD card since (for whatever reason) recording people with my v1 is hit or miss. If I could record continuously, it wouldn't be an issue. I thought it would be an easy swap. It's not because the v2 doesn't not work with the v1 chime. I had to disconnect my doorbell to use the v1, now I have to reinstall it? Even if I did, it wouldn't work because I live in an old house and its ringer is not compatible. I had also hoped that the dynamic range of the camera would be better. Although I didn't install this and therefore don't have first-had experience, other reviews imply that it is no better. I am returning this with disappointment.

I really wanted an “affordable “wired video doorbell that supports a SD card with the option for multiple electronic chimes. I decided to give this a try as it was not very expensive. I received and inspected the Wyze video doorbell V2 and while it is “cute” I was not impressed with the mounting plate. I thought the plate is too flimsy and the attachment hooks are not secure. I am also not thrilled with the fact that the SD card is mounted to the side of the unit.
I am using a Wyze Cam V3 to cover the front door area especially for packages. I really wanted the benefits of a video doorbell and came very close to buying a ring but didn’t want the subscription option. So I decided to try this out. It was installed and working with the help of Wyze support as I did not need the controller with my mechanical chime. Note-you must select your chime type after installing the WVDB V2 or it won’t work.
I have two separate WiFi networks and this is installed one wall away from both of them (within 15’) so I can choose either one to connect to. I tried both and the doorbell worked fine initially but keeps going offline. It even disconnected and seems to have reset itself back to factory and I had to remove it from the app and reinstalled.
Last night it went offline again. I reset the doorbell and wifi router and while it showed offline in the app, I was still able to access it live.
One of the most annoying things is that when I first installed it, it captured everything just like the wyze cam v3 but that has also stopped working. I think this doorbell needs to go back on the drawing board.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello! If your Wyze Video Doorbell is displaying as Offline but the Live Stream is still working we would recommend power cycling the doorbell. To power cycle your Wyze Wired Doorbell, flip the breaker, power the Doorbell to its “Off” position, wait 10 full seconds, then flip the breaker switch back to the “On” position. Had two video doorbells that came out before Wyze delivered their first doorbell. For years they met my needs until the Wyze Doorbell V2 came out. With the best competitive pricing, additional features and full integration into my Wyze ecosystem, I bit the bullet and replaced both of my existing doorbell cameras. After having them installed for three weeks, I'm thrilled that I switched to the Wyze Doorbell V2's. The features that set it apart from the competition and the previous models are: 1. VoIP calls to phones that have the Wyze account installed, which brings up the video and audio. Ensuring that you get to see and talk to the person that pressed the doorbell before they leave. 2. SD Card continuous recording and event recordings to the cloud. 3. Integration with Cam Plus and Friendly Faces Functionality for filtering unwanted alerts and notification of friends and children on alerts/notifications. 4. Integration with Wyze rules and the capabilities that are available on other Wyze cameras. Allowing notifications to be temporarily turned off by command or schedule, to minimize annoying my spouse when I'm on the porch or late at night. 5. Display of both doorbells in a split screen on the Amazon Alexa Show with one command in seconds. Are there additional improvements which I would like to see, of course, but the Wyze Video Doorbell is definitely worth switching from other brands and implementing into a Home Automation ecosystem. If you haven't purchased a Video Doorbell, now is the time to do it. You'll wonder how your household managed to live without one.
P.S. I have an outer door with a doorbell and an atrium that has an inner door with a doorbell too. We leave the outer door open for package deliveries. So we never know which doorbell a person will utilize, but now we have both of them set up with similar configurations. Since one is called "Front Doorbell" and the other "Atrium Doorbell" each has a different sound with their integration with Alexa, the doorbell name is announced, we know which is being pressed.
