Like almost everything about this video doorbell. But, couldn't connect it to chime using the chime controller. Works great without it. Would be better if i got a audible notification when video is activated - but you can't have everything.
It does not ring or pop open the app on my phone to answer someone that hits the doors bell button like most doorbells do. Just a basic notification so easy to miss almost other standard notifications
I followed wiring instructions and the bell didn’t ring. The camera worked, made sound when pressed at door, but did not activate indoor bell. found alternate wiring instructions in facebook user group and fixed the issue.
Overall, it works well and didn't break my wallet. Picture is great. The mounting bracket didn't work as provided--I had to cut it in half and only use the top half to secure the unit to my doorframe. The bottom half didn't provide enough area for the wires to be secured to the unit and then lay flat. Also, I had to go online to the Wyze site to get an alternate wiring configuration for my chime...something that could have been communicated up front instead of me having to search for it. Also, the unit lost connectivity after a week and trying to reconfigure it is a mess -- there should be an easier way to reset the unit, like a reset button. I'm not sure why the unit lost connectivity when there are two Wyze bulbs above it that are always connected...
This doorbell didn’t work for me. I own a number of Wyze cameras and bulbs so it was natural for me to choose Wyze for my video doorbell. Unfortunately while the camera function and motion detection functions operated well, it could not ring my indoor doorbell despite multiple attempts to troubleshoot it. I have no idea why Wyze designed it with a separate ‘chime controller’ as opposed to just allowing the doorbell to connect the wires and ring the bell.
The Wyze doorbell v2 seems to be a decent product so far. There are a few small things I would have liked to know before getting the product though. One thing I have found along with many others is the transformer requirements are not correct within the specs. It says a 16v 10vA transformer is needed. This will only provide enough power to run the camera, but not the chime that the chime controller connects to. I upgraded to a 24v 40vA transformer and it now works as it should including the chime. The second thing is the delay from ringing the doorbell to the chime ringing. It is about 5 seconds before the chime rings. I know it isn’t much, but it seems like there should be virtually no delay. The last thing is the angle of the view from the camera is less than I was hoping to get. If anything is within 3 feet of my doorbell and below the level of the doorbell I can’t seem to see it at all. I was hoping this would have been better because I like to be able to see packages that are delivered if I look at the camera, and I will see and get notified there was motion but may not see the package if it is right next to the door.
I got this to replace my old Wyze Video Doorbell. I just wish that Wyze would have been up front that it wouldn't work with the old Wyze Chimes. I love the everything about the new Video Doorbell v2, the video quality, software, SD Card... I really wanted the to use the Wyze chimes because you couldn't hear the old chime.
