My Wyze Battery Cam Pro For me is a great security tool for my home. It has so many options and the color and clarity is really clear. One of the Best Buy’s. Very happy with this camera. Even the night vision is great. Thanks Wyze!
Loving the long lasting battery But it does not come with the L connector that would make it compatible with solid panels That has to be bought separately And they seem to be out of Stock a lot But love the detection range zone you can set it at And the other settings you can use
I was about to make a setup for the wise cam pan tilt those outdoor with a 12 volt battery, solar panel and charge controller it was going to cost way more to build than to buy this this came out while I was planning for that and so I just bought it it's been working great.
As someone who started with a V2 in a housing, and then changed to a V3, I now have a couple years worth of experience in both trying to stay connected to the Wi-Fi and having adequate power to run the camera when it is at my front gate (~450ft from the house). Ironically, for us, the challenge was never the Wi-Fi, but it was always the power. Inevitably, my step-converter would always end up draining my solar charged battery.
When Wyze announced this product, I bought it immediately. This is what I was looking for and it would remove all my anxiety about the camera draining the marine battery that was there to power my gates.
Installation went quick, both hardware and connection, as we have come to expect from Wyze.
All in all, it’s a great product. The only shortfall is the one that I did not consider in advance. It’s always a balance of performance versus power.
Again, because it’s at the front gates, I have a need to know what’s going on or rather what has happened. The camera set up for max recording time of two minutes with no cool down. What I’ve seen is after a motion event, it takes a while for the camera to turn on, and begin to capture an event. I maxed out range and sensitivity to try to pick up an image, quicker or rather further away from my property, but it still clips several seconds off the front of a recording, and if FedEx or UPS are dropping off packages, even only 20 feet away, it will end a recording and start another one.
Now if I am in your shoes I might be thinking “wow, if you maxed out sensitivity and radar range with a two minute max recording and no cool down what is your battery life like? “Well, to be honest, it is incredible. Almost too incredible. After about four weeks, the camera is still around 74% charged.
And if I’m in the designers shoes right now, I might be thinking “wow that’s really good battery life with those settings! “And I would agree.
I understand that it’s a balance or a trade-off between performance and battery life, I’m just hoping that in a future update, the user can have more control over using more power as a trade off for more frequent charges,. I would happily trade more battery recharges, or putting another solar panel in if I could get shorter start up in more sensitivity.
All in all a great product, I’ve already recommended it twice, noting the limitation that I have found for my application, but one which will not affect where my friends may be able to use it.
