The regular floodlight has an infrared sensor to assist with motion detection. This one has “smart detection” so it can activate only when it detects people, cars, etc. However it often takes like 10-20 seconds to actually turn on when you have it set to smart detection. See the attached screenshot of multiple people halfway into the car and the light is still off (it turned on a second later). This is very inconvenient since it leaves you in the dark when you need it most. I changed it to “trigger on all motion”, but now it will turn on when the neighbor drives by and flashes the headlights into the yard. Not a huge big deal but I had replaced a regular floodlight cam with this one and it wouldn’t have that problem because headlights don’t trigger the infrared sensor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your experience with the Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro. We understand how important it is for your floodlight to respond quickly and accurately, especially when you rely on it for security and convenience. Here are some steps and tips to help optimize your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro’s motion detection and lighting response:
Smart Detection Delay: The Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro uses onboard AI for smart detection (people, vehicles, etc.), which can sometimes introduce a slight delay (like the 10–20 seconds you mentioned) as it processes the scene. This is different from traditional infrared sensors, which react instantly to any motion, including non-human triggers.
All Motion vs. Smart Detection: Setting the floodlight to trigger on “All Motion” will make it more responsive, but as you noticed, it may also react to things like headlights or animals. Using “Smart Detection” helps reduce false triggers but may have a slight delay. Optimizing Floodlight Settings: To get the best balance between responsiveness and accuracy, please try the following:
Go to the floodlight’s settings > Floodlight Settings. Under Brightness Level, set the slider to High. Under Activate when camera detects, ensure Motion is toggled on. Choose your preferred motion type: All Motion or Smart Detections (make sure Person and Vehicle are selected if using Smart Detections). Set the Lights Off Timer to 5 minutes while testing. Adjust the Schedule to your preferred timeframe, and try resetting it to clear any stuck settings. Test the floodlight during the set timeframe to see if performance improves. Wyze says my review is too long. Ok, here's the bottom line. The motion detector sucks.

Easy to install, Easy to setup, easy to configure. Like the fact that I can move the lights to shine in different directions. Excellent that I can control the brightness of the lights. Great that I can do either motion detection or I can just turn on the lights as ambient. All this from my phone!
