Side Panel not flush with unit

We just bought this and installed yesterday. To my huge dismay, the right side accordion panel does not sit flush at the right top of the unit. There is a gap and it is brand new. Also, we have Harvey vinyl windows and this unit does not sit flush on the sill. We needed to stuff the foam insulation under the unit- about a foot of gap. The unit seems to work fine upon turning on to test, but I am not happy with the quality so far.

Please ensure all installation instructions are being followed and your window is within the recommended size. The side panels should slide in directly on the AC and be firmly attached to the window sides and the appliance should be sitting on its fulcrum point. Total garbage! Freezes up constantly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After my 9 year old Frigidaire died from fan bearing failure I figured I’d buy the same brand since the other one held up great. Old one ran April through September for 9 years without ever shutting it off. This one you can’t trust to run unattended for more than an hour because the coils will completely freeze over! Or the night time temp drops below 65 it’s guaranteed to freeze! Then it will just continue to run for hours while not blowing any air and wasting 600 watts an hour!
