Only a 4, as I haven't used it only a few times. That said, it cleans good, does what supposed to. Is a second choice as I wanted a front load, couldn't afford one. I enjoy that it is just a washer, quite a few settings for everything and no smart stuff and little electronics. It is, after all,a washer, not a computer.
I'm single and don't do large loads. I add two buckets of extra water per load. I do this because I have had jeans come out after washing and still have areas dry.

We'd like to assist you with your washer. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary.
It is not recommended to manually add more water to the washer. Please refer to the link below for troubleshooting:

This HOTPOINT is the perfect washing machine for me. After my 20+ year old machine conked out, I just wanted something basic. This does have nice features, but it's not complicated like so many appliances are these days. FYI- I did my homework before making my decision! This particular washing machine has an agitator -which I prefer, an end of cycle signal, stainless steel drum-AND has a maximum spin speed of 750rpm! Trust me, that's important!
