Seems to do the job. Just rather load. I haven't had a top load washer for years so this could just be a difference in the 2 types of washers

Replaced a similar Hotpoint washer that was 13 years olf and the transmission broke. New one has a bigger tub and works fine for our 2 person family and would probably work for a larger family. Wife loves it. My only complaint is the wash cycle is very loud. First use, I thought it was broken. The old one was quiet and only heard when in the spin cycle. Still it's a good machine for the price.

Right choice for basic.

It's a basic clothes washer. It's exactly what I had in mind. Bells and whisltes? No. Get your laundry done clean and quickly? This the right choice.

Does not fill with enough water

Although the instructions say to hold the button three seconds to make the tub fill with water, it doesn't work!

We'd like to help you with the washer deep fill feature. Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add an incremental amount of water to the wash load. Holding the Deep Fill button for 3 seconds will provide the deepest fill level possible. For more information, we recommend referring to page 13 of the manual at this link:
