Do your research before buying

30 minute spin cycle is ridiculous. Off balanced spin happens alot, especially when washing towels & sheets. Tried different cycles and still is off balance. Sheets get twisted pretty bad. Wish i would of researched the machine better. Do not buy it. I have a feeling this machines life expectancy won't be long. Disappointed GE

Just not what thought it would be…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thought I was buying a basic Washer with basic controls and with an Agitator. Was tired of smell front loader, also a machine with No Agitator
Both were poor Washing Machines that were expensive when purchased.
Thought i’d go with “Old School” style.
This one doesn’t get dirt outta clothes and now after less than a year it decided to start squeaking while Agitating.
Did i mention that the warranty just lapsed?
Think i’ll go to a used Thrift Store for my next purchase.
Anything New is Junk. save your money

Regarding the squeaking sound, you usually hear squeaking if the unit is not leveled properly. To level the washer, adjust the leveling legs by rotating the individual leg in the proper direction for up or down. More on how to do this can be found in your manual on page 22 at the link below.

Belts Suck!!

This is the worst washer and dryer set I have ever owned. I bought my house with these apart of the appliances package that was with the home. They were brand new with the house. The dryer tore up the first month I had it due to the belt falling off. The first THREE times I replaced the belt. Finally I just replaced it with an LG dryer. Now not even two years into having this washer the belt is falling off…pathetic. I wish things were made more durable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I wanted a washer that was simple to operate and this is it! Love the settings for bulky items and deep clean. Works great for sheets and comforters. Nice big tub! And I think I should save some money on water using the precise fill option. I highly recommend!

water level sad

Purchased, what a waste. The controls for water levels are a sad topic for me. You give us a nice big bin to wash in but the amount of water goes from maybe two inches, four inches to third option of maybe twelve inches. I have tried washing a large item and let machine choose level with precise fill. These hardly enough water in washer to even wet the material. Or something is wrong with whatever was built to choose water level. I hate this washer! Also purchased the matching dryer. Not very impressed.

We are more than happy to provide guidance with this washer. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers, such as this one, are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. This washer also allows you to have water level control, which allows the user to manually add up to 26 gallons of water to your washer, or let the washer optimize with auto-fill for great cleaning results no matter the cycle selected.

Amazing functionality for a fantastic price! Works great! I inherited a washing machine almost 13 years ago when I bought this house, and loved the simple washer that I got. However, the owner may have bought it ten years before I bought the house, so I was lucky it lasted so long. I dreaded having to buy a new machine, but the old one finally died. I looked at machines at several stores, but Spencer's gave me the best deal for the price! This one gives me all that a top of the line machine would offer, great price, and it is made by GE which has always built amazing appliances!
