Previous Bosch Model was Better

Our previous Bosch dishwasher had to be replaced last fall after 10 years due to a cracked tub, which could not be repaired. We were very pleased with the features and performance of it. This model, while it does clean the dishes, has some shortcomings. The previous model had a handle on the door and this one has an opening to pull the door open. The door itself is somewhat flimsy and will flex when opened while the previous model's was very solid. The top rack for flatware constantly catches when it's pulled out and it also flexes. When adjusting the height on the middle rack, the rack will sometimes jump out of position after it's loaded which is frustrating. The bottom rack isn't very useful when you have an assortment of dishes/pans to wash. Again, the previous model was solid in all these areas. The drying of dishes leaves something to be desires, but we have learned that it's best to leave the dishes in the washer with the door closed for at least six hours before opening, or you can opt to dry the remaining water by hand if you open it earlier. I was willing to pay a higher price for a Bosch product both times, but this model is disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Actually Cleans

New house dishwasher was so loud we couldn't hear the TV. So finally we changed it for a quiet one. It was quiet but did not clean the dishes well. Finally bought this Bosch and now we get quiet and clean and sanitized. Just scrape the things off and put it in.

This model 500 has a hidden handle, not the exposed handle in the photo.

After further review and exploering the directions we found out there was nothing wrong with it IT IS JUST THAT QUIET. We were amazed how quiet and efficient it is. Thank you for a great product.

The Quietist Dishwasher in Our Kitchen!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our LG Dishwasher started screaming. It was like a banchi was being pummeled inside that thing. The LG used to be as quiet as a mouse. But after being in use for 6 years, it became so loud we'd only run it if we left the house or ran out of the kitchen to sleep in the garage with ear plugs.
Our appliance guy was called in to fix it. He said.. "forget this one. Get a Bosch 500. The price is fine, it will last more than 6 years and you won't know it is running unless you look at the floor."
He was right! We thought the LG was quiet. Ha! The Bosch noise level is speechless. It was easy to install because we had our Appliance person install it. The dishes come out cleaner than the LG ever cleaned. This thing is almost perfect.
Almost perfect. I wish the silverware holder was bigger. We throw parties and utensils abound during those. The racks don't hold nearly as many dishes, cups, wine glasses as the LG. I'm predicting we will have to do two loads for every LG load. The significant other says, "We will struggle through and simply focus on how clean the dishes. Think of all the extra hours of sleep we are getting!"
All in all, I'd recommend the Bosch 500. You won't know it is running unless you look for the red light on the floor.

One Bosch for another
