A good dishwasher-almost great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dishwasher is quiet, easy to operate, and does an excellent job cleaning. The only drawback I find is the design of the lowest tray. It is arranged in a way that makes stacking dishes challenging. The utensils basket is also way too small.

Interior Design Awful

Purchasing this dishwasher was an expensive mistake. I would say that this dishwasher holds 1/2 the capacity of my Kenmore and this is due to the way the tines are set up. The tines in the front of the dishwasher run perpendicular to the tines in the back half of the dishwasher. Loading an oversized cutting board or platter, etc. interferes with the space in the front half of the dishwasher. And if you have several cutting boards that you've used throughout the day, which we always do, you lose the space in the front half of the bottom shelf. There is room in the bottom left lower rack to stand TWO bowls on their side. If you load bowls anywhere else, they flop over and this limits the space you have to load other dishes. My expectation is that I can load my dishwasher with several cutting boards, dinner plates, lunch plates and different-sized bowls, mugs, glasses and large utensils. NO WAY. The top shelf is not that bad but it is difficult to load anything other than glasses. Never room for large utensils (spoons, spatulas, etc.). I'm getting used to the silverware tray but it takes way too much time to load silverware because it has to be placed and spaced properly so that the pieces stand on their side and don't flop over. My preference is to scoop up a handful of silverware from the sink and plop it in a basket...I don't want to fuss with dirty silverware and you have to fuss with this tray design. Once you start loading the silverware in the top tray, there is no room to load larger utensils. The tiny silverware basket is practically useless. I have yet to load an average-sized saucepan because I never have any room to put it.
I think it cleans ok. I have noticed that the inside of the door is always spotty with dried drips after the cycle completes. This happens with and without rinse aid. My glasses are clear when the cycle is done. I will say my stainless steel silverwear seems to be dulling. I have to get out "The Pink Stuff" cleaner to shine things up, which I never had to do before, and I don't want to do.
I will say it is very quiet.
I never thought to closely examine the inside of this machine before I bought it. I'm washing many more dishes than I want to since buying this dishwasher simply because the dishes we use throughout the day don't all fit in it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
