I have heard that to use the "self-cleaning" part could cause the oven to burn up/disintegrate. Is this true or is this AI generated story?

The Self-Clean cycle will not cause the oven to burn up or disintegrate. Our products are designed with durability in mind, and we use high-quality materials to manufacture our appliances. You can rest assured that each feature on this appliance is thoroughly tested prior to the launch.
I think it is unethical that they tout the Air fry option and you can't air fry unless you sign up for their app... Give them all your information, allow them to share it with everyone in the world. Why don't they disclose that to get this feature you need to do this? It really isn't a feature unless you pay with your private information. Shocking and obnoxious. Not in the manual either. Not quite transparent! Hidden "cost" . VERY slow to preheat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We would like to help and provide some more information. The air fry feature does require that you’re connected to Wi-Fi. We have more details about this in an article on our website that we will link below for you to review. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=000061093
We also have an article on our website to help with the slow preheat time that will be linked here for you to view. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16540
A MANUAL WOULD HAVE SAVE ME SOME TIME AND ADDED MORE INFO FOR THE OPERATION OF THE UNIT OVEN COOKING OPERATIONS

We agree that this wall oven looks great! Not only that, cleaning the oven interior has never been easier, thanks to Self-Clean with optional Steam Clean and the durable heavy duty racks.
As far as a manual, in order to be good stewards of the environment, we no longer print physical copies of owner’s manuals. However, we maintain digital copies of all manuals on our website for your access at any time. Some benefits of this practice are that you’ll always know where to find the manual and that the digital version will include the most up-to-date information. You can find your owner’s manual for this model here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--JPIPaXTE--/038550718b2d2586236313a79cb45bb8bda5ebe3.pdf
Overall, we are enjoying the oven as it is easy to use and performs well. The fan is a bit noisy that will run after the unit is used for sometime and you can also hear it when using the convection feature. It is louder that any fan that I've heard on an oven, but not a real issue.
We just got this oven to replace our old Kitchen Aid Wall oven and microwave. Now we have this oven along with a GE Profile microwave. We love it even we were not crazy about the control panels being hidden when not being used at first. But we had gotten used to it and we love it.
Got this oven as a surprise. I HATE it. Touch screen only with no buttons--easier to break and harder to use. What is the point of a smart ove ? Why do I have to have to connect to WiFi to use an airfrier? Bells and whistles built in just so they can break easier and be replaced sooner. Installers hauled our old oven away, or I would return this monstrosity. I want my old "dumb" oven back. Looks like that isn't an option with any GE products. Shame on you, GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We'd like to provide some information about the No Preheat Air Fry feature. No Preheat Air Fry does not require you to connect to Wi-FI to use the feature after you add it to your cooking modes. However, if your appliance stays connected to Wi-Fi, it will automatically update the feature over time once new versions become available.
Dead just after an year, very sparingly used. Not turning on at all

We'd like to assist with this issue you're having with your wall oven not turning on. We recommend disconnecting the wall oven from power for a couple of minutes before reconnecting, to reset it.
We have more information about what to try when the oven isn't working on page 22 of the manual, linked here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--9tS_LV_I--/17867ee7c0b5670a6402e2af4f230e47972cfe2e.pdf
