Very disappointed in the duration of a charge.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your Philips Norelco Shaver 2100. We are really sorry to hear that it does not appear to be holding it's charge well. Have you allowed your shaver to be charged fully for 10 hours? Once fully charged it should provide for you 30 minutes of shaving time. When your Philips Shaver is charging, you can see an indicator light or battery symbol flashing on it. To save energy, this indicator light automatically turns off 15 or 30 minutes after the shaver is fully charged. To check if your shaver's energy-saving mode is on, try unplugging the charging cord and plugging it back in the shaver again. This will prompt the indicator light to start flashing again. You can now be assured that your shaver is charging.

Price was the only good thing

Doesn’t shave as close as my old PT860 that still works with the same blades it came with. Can’t shave as many times on a charge because it takes longer to shave now, to get close to the shave that I use to get. Keep in mind, I’ve been using Phillips shavers for about 56 years.

If you have not shaved for a couple of days and have a heavy beard, it is a good idea to trim your beard before you start shaving. This technique also helps in reducing shaving time. While shaving, it is important to be gentle, especially if you have sensitive skin prone to irritation. Do not press the shaver too hard against your skin. Only apply a gentle pressure which makes your facial hair stand upright and makes it easier for the shaver blades to catch and cut them. Could you also make sure to fully charge your shaver for 8 hours and then try again?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have wanted to try a rotary shaver for a while, I generally prefer the foil shavers. so, I was excited to try this out.
However, I was quickly disappointed with two major flaws...
Now first of all, anyone who claims it shaves as close as a blade is simply lying...even after four weeks of daily use, it NEVER shaves as close as a blade. try to cotton ball test and you will experience the truth.
But the first problem that I experienced was how long it takes to shave with this thing. Even with three heads, it still takes between 10-15 minutes of constant shaving to get even close to a decent shave. Basically, if you desire a five o'clock shadow even after using this thing for 20 minutes, well then you will be pleased...but if you desire to actually feel like you are clean-shaved, then expect to be disappointed!
Which brings me to the second problem...if I had known that this thing has almost zero battery life...I would never have wasted my money on it! It offers a pitiful 40-minutes...which in reality is effectively no more than 30-minutes, which equates to a maximum of 2-days use before having to re-charge again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When you shave with your Philips Shaver, you will achieve optimal results if you make slow circular movements with the shaver over the face. As you are a new user of the Philips Shaver, keep in mind that your skin needs to adapt to the electric razor, allow yourself an adjustment period of two to three weeks with your new Philips Shaver. If you have not shaved for a couple of days and have a heavy beard, it is a good idea to trim your beard before you start shaving. This technique also helps in reducing shaving time. We suggest before first usage to charge the appliance for 3 hours without interruptions and until the battery charging indication shows that the battery is full. This is needed to make maximum use of the battery capacity. All future charges will take 1 hour and will provide approximately 15 shaves.

Close shave!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very good dependable rotary razor. The shave is close, particularly if used with a pre-shave lotion or powder. The shave is very comfortable with no razor burn at all.The shaver does seem to glide over your face nicely. Takes about 6-8 hrs.to charge, I find a charge good for about three shaves. ( but I'm a fussy shaver). Unit could stand a little bit more power in my estimation, then it would be an excellent shaver.! Overall, very pleased with the razor, and an excellent value for the money. I have had more expensive razors that didn't perform as well as this one.

I replaced the same style of Philips shaver that I had for 20 years. This new one works just as well. I notice that it does seem to be made from less durable materials and seems lighter. I am curious if it will last as long. Philips makes great shavers. I would recommend this one. I only gave it a 4 rating because higher end models provide a few more features.

This model was the lowest price I could find and it is the smoothest I have ever used. From now on it will be new heads yearly! (Phillips only) No knockoffs to save a couple bucks!
