I used it for the first time last week, it disconnected from the app several times while using it and I had to close the app and reopen to get the temperature to report the information I needed. My old MEATER, more basic model has never disconnected.

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to help improve your experience with the MEATER Pro. Make sure the probe is fully charged and not in the dock during the cook. Keeping your phone and dock within range and away from thick walls or metal can also help maintain the signal. For further help, reach out at +1 888 407 0303 or visit support.meater.com. MEATER
I write as one who likes your product a lot. But I believe there is an issue with the ambient temperature reading of your product. The internal meat temp readings are spot on, but when I use the meter in my trigger, there was a significant discrepancy and the Traeger readings and the meter readings of the ambient temp. Because the internal temp of the meter was accurate I thought the issue was with Traeger sensor and wrote to Traeger about it since they go on both companies. So I decided to do a dedicated study. Over two months I smoked a brisket, beef, ribs, short ribs, spare ribs, pork belly, pork chop, and a slab of fresh salmon. I recorded the readings every hour of the cooks. The differences in the ambient attempts were significant as much as 70°, but as little as 30°. During my study, I also use the Thermo pen instant thermometer, and Thermo pen smoke the results confirm my finding the temp reading of the meter the instant thermometer and the smoke readings for the internal meat. readings are all within 1° Significantly the ambient temp reading of the Traeger and the smoke are almost identical through the cooks so in my humble opinion, the issue is with the ambient temp reading of the meat probe not the Traeger. I was careful to place the probe exactly as instructed. I always inserted the probe into the meat just beyond the insertion mark. I’m not an engineer, but maybe increasing the length of the meter might help so that the tip ambient sensor would not be so close to the cooking meat that might make a difference so now I’m committed to cooking both with the meter and the smoke with the smoke. I use both probes for ambient readings. I would prefer using one device, but I just don’t trust the meter ambience readings. Hope you find a supportive, helpful and honest sincerely our David Cousineau.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your interest in the performance of our ambient readings. The sensors in grills like Traeger and in the MEATER probe measure ambient temperature differently. Grill sensors are often fixed within the cooking chamber, while MEATER's ambient sensor is located near the exposed end of the probe, which can be affected by airflow, meat placement, and proximity to heat sources. Your careful testing and documentation are valuable, and we would be glad to review your findings further.
