Biggest pile of crap I have ever owned. Can’t keep the thing connected to the dock even if it’s within 5inches of it. Do not waste your money.

Curry, we truly value you taking the time to share this with us, and we completely understand how surprising this must feel, especially after your unit was previously replaced and you expected reliable performance. From what you described, the connection concern may be caused by residue or grease on the charging contacts, slight misalignment when the probe is seated in the dock, or the dock battery not maintaining a full charge. Carefully cleaning both the probe base and dock contact points with a dry cloth or cotton swab, then making sure the probe is fully seated and the dock has a fresh battery charge, often helps restore a consistent connection. Since your unit has already been replaced in the past, we would truly appreciate the opportunity to review the previous replacement history and continue assisting with the next best steps. Please reach out to us again at support.meater.com so we can continue working toward the best resolution for you. We look forward to assisting you further.

Junk!! I have used this maybe 5 times and the temp is always off. This time I'm using and the food has been cooking for nearly 3 1/2 hours and the app is still estimating the cook time. Totally unreliable and not worth the money. Junk!!

Hello, and thank you for your feedback on the MEATER Pro. Although the Pro has increased the number of sensors from 1 (with the MEATER Plus) to 5, it is still important to follow the same placement approach to ensure the most accurate temperature reading. This includes having the first 3 cm (about 1.2”) of the probe positioned into the thickest part of the meat, while also avoiding contact with bone or having it inserted into fatty sections. Not only is this needed for measuring the internal temperature accurately, but it will also help with cook time estimates as well. To get additional information on this topic, check out the link below for our Support Wizard section covering the MEATER Pro's temperature sensors. And if you still have questions, there is a contact page at the end of the Wizard to get you in touch with our Customer Service Team for more direct assistance.
I think it's asinine that this probe doesn't pair with original Meater block. You have to constantly depend on a battery to keep it charged prior to using it.

Thanks for sharing your comments. The Pro collection has components, sizes, and contact points that differ from the Alpha collection, which makes them incompatible. Regarding the charging cycle, a fully functional probe should last for at least 24 hours per charge. If the battery is draining quickly or the probe is not charging properly, our Customer Support team can help you review the issue. Reach out to us by visiting support.meater.com/contact-us.

I love the features of this thermometer that assist throughout the cook. Especially the estimate for cook done time and ability to set alert for a variety of times prior to end of the cook. This could be useful for reminding you to starting preparing finishing sauce .
I did not like that I lost connection more often than I like. The end of the device where the amount temperature sensor is located appears to have tarnished or discolored after 1 cook. Temperature never went over 320 degrees so I'd hope this is not a sign that this will not hold up to higher heats. It is the part of thermometer that's exposed to smoke & higher heat but I just did not expect this after 1 cook.

Doesn't work

Worked pretty well for a few months. Now disconnects every 2 minutes and have to take it out of the meat yo reconnect. Tried new batteries, tried cleaning it. Nothing works. Not worth the expensive price tag. Simply doesn't work.

Hi Bobby, thanks for sharing your experience.
What you are describing is not common and definitely not the experience we want for our customers, especially after it worked well for the first few months. When disconnects happen every couple of minutes, it is usually related to range or signal interference rather than the probe itself.
Please make sure the mobile device, dock, and probe are all within Bluetooth range during the cook. If the phone moves too far from the dock, or if the probe is too far from the dock, the connection will drop. Also check for any walls, metal surfaces, grills with thick lids, or other obstructions between the dock and the probe, as these can interfere with the signal. Certain cooking setups can create a shielding effect similar to a Faraday cage, which weakens Bluetooth performance.
It is also important not to place the probe back in the dock during an active cook, as that will intentionally put the unit into standby mode and trigger a disconnect notification.
Since you have already tried new batteries and cleaning, we would like to review your specific setup in more detail and get this performing consistently again. Please contact us at +1 888 407 0303 so we can work through it together and find the right solution.

A better MEATER

Really like the new design. Slimmer, More temp readings, and higher heat tolerance. It would be nice to be able to program a reverse sear but easily worked around by just setting up a new cook when you pull the steak out of the smoker. All in all, a real good product.
