The range is about 5’. Keeps saying it needs charging. I’ve left in the charger for a week. No difference

Hello, and thanks for reviewing the MEATER Pro. One of the main advantages of the new MEATER Pro design is its substantially better range than previous versions. Whereas the very first MEATER could reach a little over 30’ away, the MEATER Pro provides a total range of up to 250’, before even taking advantage of the MEATER Link or MEATER Cloud functionality. And while some appliances may have more of an effect on the connection between the probe and the charger, you should still be getting much better results than just 5’ away. As for the charging message, an insufficient charge can certainly have an impact on performance, though verifying that the probe and charger contacts are clean will make sure that it is not simply due to an obstruction between them when the probe is docked. But you’re not on your own to work out a resolution, and we have a lot of resources that can help available at support.meater.com. In addition to our Support Wizard, there is also an FAQ section that can address just about any question that you may have with your MEATER. And if you still aren’t getting the results that you expect, there’s contact information at the end of the Wizard that’ll provide more direct assistance from our Support Team. To get you started, check out the link below for information on the MEATER Pro’s range, how to improve it and what might be responsible for the performance that you are experiencing.
This is my 4th Meater. I purchased the original Meater a few years ago, loved the features but wanted better distance from my smoker. I got a Meater + and liked it so much I bought a second +. I’ve been using them regularly and when the Meater Pro can out I had to have one. I have no regrets, this is the best Meater to date.
I bought this Meater Pro 2 Plus primarily for it's "supposed" extended range. It was just as bad as the regular Meater probe I've bought 3 times. I used it on an electric Smokey Joe smoker. Smoker basically a tin can. Once lid was closed, I placed the wood station 6 inches from the smoker in my garage. I lost connection with my phone when I was less then 30 feet from the garage. Extremely bad. I either had to leave my phone on the counter and sill dropped. I ended up using Weber IGrill for the smoke.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We understand that experiencing the same issue across multiple units can be frustrating. However, it's rare for the same issue to occur with more than one product, so we believe this may not be related to the performance of our products themselves. As with any device using a built-in Bluetooth repeater, the signal can be affected by obstacles such as walls, windows, closed doors, trees, and more. Environmental factors can also impact the signal strength. To help you get the best performance from your MEATER Pro, we recommend visiting our Support Wizard for troubleshooting tips and adjustments: support.meater.com/helper.
First and most important I love my Meaters and this is my second one. Last weekend I set out to use my Blackstone with some nice steaks. I let the steaks come up to room temperature and got the griddle nice and hot. I was hoping for a great sear on the outside and a medium rare middle. I have had fantastic results with my original meeter but this one was different. There is not an option for griddle so I selected other. Things were taking longer than expected and I was getting nervous. The interior temperature was still showing rare but when I pushed on the steak it was quite firm so I removed them immediately and ended up with medium well steaks. Lesson learned with the Pro but there must be an algorithm they can add to help us Blackstone lovers.
