Thatcher works great but not good pickup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The thatcher works great, but the sweeper doesn't sweep up the dead grass. So you are left to rake up all the dead grass

Depth adjustment changes and digs deep

I bought this to do a light dethatch it dose the the job accept for two things. 1. The depth adjustment changes on you and makes gouges in the grass. I don't know how it moves out of those lock positions. Very annoying I will be returning to store. 2. It does not collect the grass very well. Dead grass bunches up in from and leaves piles behind. I ended up not using bag and just using my lawnmower to vacuum up all loose grass then my blower to blow away the rest.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Alberto, thank you for sharing your experience and review with us. When adjusting the depth, please ensure that the height has been adjusted the same on both sides. When using the depth adjusting knob. Please be sure the knob is pulled out completely before turning the knob to select the desired height. Then make sure the knob has retracted back and properly seated. You will know it is in the locked position if you aren't able to turn the knob after the height has been selected. Please also refer to figure D1 on page 6 of your owners manual. Your feedback will be passed forward. I’ve never owned a dethatcher before so I didn’t know much about assembly or use.
I found out that you need to address the thatchers’s design. The first 2 screws don’t even go in all the way and you could open those screw holes up wider. Next, the numbers on the wheel height adjustments don’t make sense to me. What the heck is +3 or -3? Finally, the grass catcher doesn’t catch very much grass/thatch. I must have had a lot to dethatch because it was hard to push and I had to stop frequently. I won’t return the dethatcher but I’m not sure I like it.

We recommend reading over the owner's manual carefully. Please be advised dethatching is the process of removing the layer of tightly bound plant material just beneath the surface. This allows for better soil drainage and for nutrients to reach newly exposed root systems. To prepare your lawn you will first need to remove all debris from the year, including any sprinkler heads and other obstacles. Then you will need to mow your lawn to half of the normal height of your typical cutting. The lower cut will allow the dethatcher to work more effectively. Nice machince, bag is worthless

I used this piece of equipment for the first time today. I have a small yard and the dethatcher worked well. I made it about 3 steps before the bagging unit was clogged, not full but clogged at the base of the machine. After removing the bag the unit began to work well. With or without the bag the unit tends to clog and and causes the machine to choke. I had to use my foot to gently lift the bag door to release the thatch. After doing that the machine did a nice job. I'll have to figure out a permanent solution the keep the bag door slightly open.
