Year 3 warranty was up and the motor died first use this fall. Quite disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Motor cooling air intake poor design. Burns out

All electric motors require air to cool them or they burn out. The air intake is located next to the outgoing mulched leaves so they quickly clog up the filter. This causes the motors to overheat and eventually burn out. Instructions do not cover how to clean out the filter. Clean out requires removing the motor cover. Why did they not design it with an easily cleaned filter? Other than that it does the job pretty well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have spent a day trying to replacement monofilament line, Alegre tube and the top hub screw without success.

Line shatters in cold weatrher

I tried using my shredder during a Minnesota January. The first shredder line shattered within three minutes, and its replacement lasted about 30 seconds. At what temperature is the shredder line okay to use without disintegrating almost immediately?

Useless. Works only in short bursts as the cutting lines break after just a few minutes. We had to replace the cutting lines continuously. Was unable to get replaceable parts at the local hardware store. We spent more time fixing than mulching.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this mulcher. I've reduced the amount of bags I put out for pickup. I gave it a 4 because the dust is not contained when shredding. Glasses are needed but I found a way to reduce the dust. After I dump a good amount of leaves I have a 5 gal. bucket I put over the top to keep the dust in. I also start the unit when leaves are in and stop when I hear the leaves are mulched. Then I take the 5 gal. bucket off and start again.
I highly recommend this if you have a leaf problem every year. I have a lot of trees and I've been using mine for 2 yrs.
