[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased several years ago. The unit has worked very well fro me, I use it for mulching up the garden refuge. I did make one modification, I use the line with wire in it. When using for these products you will need to scape out the inner areas as the garden items will build up. Do not use to compost corn stocks or sunflowers

bought this a short time ago and really enjoy it. very portable and lightweight, but only probably is that it is hard to fit a regular size paper bag in it and due to the motor inside of bag not a lot of leaves will fit in it.. probably only lose about 6 inches of space in the bag.

Great for dry leaves

I purchased this mulcher to replace an older one with a bad motor. I works very well when the leaves are dry. Damp leaves can be done although it requires frequent stops to remove accumulated leaf mush. One caution is that there no parts available if the motor has problems such as worn out brushes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the leaf mulcher for the first time last weekend. I liked that the leaves and small twigs would get shredded and compressed down 11:1. At first it seemed to work very well, but after the 3rd or 4th bag, the mulching slowed down considerably. Shaking the unit helped the mulcher to shred. I recognized that the cutting performance highly depended on the length of the cutting lines. I used the spare cutting lines from the package and used a spool I had for my weed wacker. I also removed the small black cutting line trimmer that seemed to block leaves and and unnecessarily trim the cutting line. The lines wore out and got shorter about every 6 bags. We ran this machine for 4 hours and filled up 75 bags of shredded leaves. I recommend this machine with a few recommendations:
1. Keep an eye on the cutting strings. Replace when mulching slows down.
2. Buy a thicker cutting string.
3. Remove big twigs or pieces of bark that clogs and quickly wears out the cutting line.
4. Use full size clear big bags. You can see when its full and you can change bags less often.If you use small bags, it will slide off the metal frame and blow leaves out.
5. Remove small metal cutting string trimmer.
6. Wear a face mask and eye protection.

At first we had to use the short white pedestal because our bags were to short and would fall off the frame (see picture). It got easier when we upgraded to the bigger clear plastic bags.

I just bought my 2nd worx mulcher. The previous one lasted about 5 years of heavy use (left outside year round) and I'm quite happy with it. I use this for all the small gauge and soft matter that needs to get broken down for composting. I use husqvarna .095" line which is much, much better than the worx supplied line. Changing lines often is my only complaint about this unit (spool feed option please!). I would much prefer a larger line diameter (.13") for durability reasons. Care must be taken to not overload the unit which breaks the trimmer line and requires a 5 minute line replacement chore.
