Gas line leaks after connecting to tank by hand. Only way to stop the leak was to use pliers. My old grill was 13 years old from Walmart never had that issue.

The side of the Grill started to burn and paint to peel off after first use. Weber did replace the casing unit which was wonderful from the warrant department, but that still shouldnt be happening after 1 time use.

We appreciate your feedback on the Genesis S-315 Gas Grill. The newer Genesis models no longer include the tank scale, and it is sold separately. You can purchase the tank scale online, through our Consumer Care Team, or at your local retailer. Thank you!
The differences between my old Genesis E-315 illustrate what happens when a company concentrates on cost reduction instead of quality. Eliminating the spring indicator showing gas level in the tank and making the unit less rugged are but 2 examples.

We were excited by our new grill - it was replaced a ten + year old Spirt grill. The heft and overall quality of the Genesis line was impressive. However, several issues arose and we returned the grill. The first is that it was damaged -- one of the flanges on the handle was badly broken. It arrived missing several parts - a heat diffuser (favorizer bar) and the grease collection pan. Weber customer service sent it replacement parts very quickly. But the persistent problem was that the electronic lighter did not work. The battery was fine, it produced a spark, but it would not ignite the gas. The gas flow was fine - it could light with a match. Finally there were large gaps on either side of the grill that permitted rain to flood the storage cabinet beneath the grill body including filling the grease trap. All in all we decided to return the grill to the retailer before we ever used it.
We replaced it with a new Spirit - E-425. Which is very nice, the difference in weight and finish of the two are obvious - but the Spirit's ignition system works, all parts were here and it was undamaged. Unlike the old Spirit which did not take on rain - the new Spirit does have a gap in the back of the cabinet that allows the rain is. So a cover will be required for this model.

Purchased this grill to replace and old E-310 that needed extensive parts. Should have gone ahead and gotten replacement parts if we could. First, as others have pointed out it is open under the shelves exposing wires and the gas line and making an easy entrance for animals. This is also a HUGE safety concern as a small child could easily reach in and grab things as well as touch the cook box and get burned! Come on Weber, fix this safety issue! Very poor design. And retrofit all past grills made like this to prevent accidents!!!!! We are also not happy this does not include the tank level gauge. For the price paid over other grills, and what should be a Weber selling point, it should be included. The build quality has also gone down hill. Where they used to use screws they now use plastic push pins for assembly. Cheaper than screws and probably will not last. Although it does make for a little easier assembly it makes the grill seem cheap. Also when I tried to register the grill online, the web site would not recognize my serial number. So of course when I called customer service I was connected to a person I could barely understand. Weber has apparently out sourced their customer service. I really do not expect this grill to last as long as our last Weber grill and am finding it VERY hard to recommend Weber anymore since they have cheapened it up in quality and have apparently out sourced their customer service. We really wish we had looked at other grills before this purchase but were going by past Weber quality, which we see now may have been a mistake.
