First time Weber owner...Impressed by the quality of the packaging and components right out of the box. Lots of assembly, but the parts are well engineered, robust and fit without stress. Instructions are logical and there were no missing parts. Once assembled, the unit worked flawlessly.
To be fair, we haven’t yet had much of an opportunity to use our new Weber E-315 grill. But our cooking so far has been great. The grill appears to be well made, and has performed well. The only point that prevents us from giving this grill a full 5 stars, is its lack of anything to show propane level in the tank that we attach to the grill. Previous, less sophisticated Weber grills that we have owned had at least the “scale” measurement indicator, which by a general weighing of the tank, indicated the level of propane in the tank. We were very surprised that this grill had no provision for indicating that propane level. We have since purchased a small device that indicates level of propane by using ultrasound. But, I think for the price of this grill, a propane measuring mechanism of some kind should have been included.

Reposting this review, as Weber removed our original review. The grill that was sent to us was faulty and would not ignite. Weber refused to send a replacement and made the process unreasonably challenging. I would not recommend purchasing this product.

Its hard for me to compare because I've had nothing but Weber for the past thirty plus years. Sad to say but I probably cannot make a comparison, however, I can say that Weber make a fabulous grill. Weather you're talking propane or natural gas, I've had them both, I prefer natural gas - no worry regarding running out of gas.
Fit and finish of the grill are really nice. Grill gets up to temp quickly and holds temp well. I had a bad burner valve upon purchase and Weber was quick to send a replacement part.
I had a Genesis Platinum B for about 15 years. I had to replace it and the E-315 was the closest I could find. I am a bit disappointed with it.
First, I think the Platinum B which also had 3 burners heated faster and and got hotter. Enough so that I have had to change cooking times.
Second in the Platinum B, the burners ran horizontally. For a lot of tasks such as cooking chicken and fish, I turned the middle burner off, and put the food in the middle of the grill. The cylindrical, and heavier lid would reflect the heat from the top and bottom burners back on the top of the food.
The E-315 burners are vertical and the lid is squared off, so the indirect heat method doesn't work as well.
Third, the Platinum B had a touch hole below the burners. When the electric igniter failed ten years ago, I could easily stick a lighter in the touch hole and safely light the burner. The E-315 does not have a touch hole. The electric igniter works very well now, but what happens if it fails concerns me. lighting from above is more dangerous that lighting from below through a touch hole.

Thank you for being a long-time Weber fan! Your feedback is very important to us! We want you to love your new Genesis grill, and we are here to help with some pointers!
We expect all of our grills to easily reach 500-550F, so we are surprised to learn your new grill is not getting as hot as your old one. We would like to know more about your experience and offer our insight.
The vertical burner system is well-equipped for indirect cooking methods. Either one or two burners can be left off to create an indirect zone. The closed lid will easily circulate the heat.
Finally, we appreciate your feedback about the manual ignition differences between your old and new Genesis grills. The Flavorizer Bars in your grill have a notch to allow you to safely light the burners manually, if necessary.

Replaced an old Weber Silver, over 23 years old, still working just getting a little rusty. This Genesis E-315 with its front to rear burners and SS heat deflector plates and SS flavorer bars make for a very nice cooking grill. Enjoying the grilling experience on this grill. Very well built. From my experience with multi Weber grills over past years, never had a problem getting parts. Will continue to be a Weber customer.
