I purchased this laptop for game and 3D content development, including VR in Unreal Engine, for while I need to be mobile. I find that the performance of this laptop is about on par with a desktop with good CPU and an RTX 3080 Ti graphics card. CPU based rendering and OpenGL/CL rendering are very fast and I haven't hand issues with 3D modeling programs. Realtime graphical rendering, like in Unreal Engine, is mostly very good. Frame rates are not as high as I'd like, but navigation and in-engine playback are very good. There seem to be some issues with correctly rendering materials with opacity, however, with graphically incorrect bands across the screen in only the areas with transparent materials.
Read and Write speeds on the SSD will not disappoint. I even installed a second of the same SSD and it kicks butt in this laptop.
The RTX 4090 is very strong. Nothing compared to the desktop version - this mobile GPU is closer to a desktop RTX 3080. But it's very capable. If you are only gaming, then this is probably over kill for enough the most demanding game settings. If you are creating high-end 3D, authoring textures, or using rendering software on the go, then this laptop should handle most anything you through at it.
I'm running my photogrammetry software and very demanding terrain building software on here and I'm pretty happy for a laptop.
My biggest gripe is Windows. To be fair, Windows has come a long way, and Windows 11 is probably the most stable OS Microsoft has been able to produce. But it's not consistent across PCs, and this dual display laptop PC is no exception. There have been so many display issues with the 2 displays on the Zephyrus Duo - from random display resolutions after some boot ups, to complete changes to display settings on some boot ups. One example: Apps can't seem to figure out which screen I want them to populate when they launch, or keep the dimensions and positions I set (ie, after placing an open app on just half or a third of the mini screen, closing out and then relaunching, the app may launch on the main screen instead and be way larger than the resolution of the main screen. Never mind having a third screen connected, it's too frustrating to try to get apps to stay put on launch. Windows has even booted with the mini screen and exterior monitor mirroring the main screen of the laptop, even after I set them to extend the main screen, not mirror it. There have also been times Windows boots to a blank black screen - a fairly common issue with Windows since 10. Again, these kinds of things are probably more of a Windows OS issue than anything ASUS created with this laptop.
Another downside: it's a loud laptop. When plugged in, it's a jet engine to my ears (I use very quiet Apple silicon laptops too, and they don't even kick on a fan when running multiples of the same software, and running at the same time). When unplugged, this machine is much more quiet, but at a much reduced ability. There are a lot of dropped frames and stuttering in realtime rendering, for instance. And, when unplugged, I've had maybe only an hour of use of a web browser and casual browser city building game. I don't use this laptop for demanding games, so I can't speak to that. But if you're gaming, you're plugging in anyway.

The bezel needs to be re-engineered to support the strong hinge. The hinge popping out is a commin issue, you can't blame the customer for your bad design forever!

It's the nicest laptop I have ever owned. It's fast, cool looking and love the secondary screen. I would recommend this laptop or any products from ASUS to anyone. I have been a ASUS product user for 15 years so far. Keep up the good work!!

Just WOW. This machine is so powerful and overclocked its just amazing. Fans can get a little loud when intensive gaming. Go to Armor crate and set up a power profile that fits your need (OMG so easy), and game, play, work on. The 4090 video easily handles anything out today with ease, and at max settings.
