Takes getting used too.

The new interface takes some getting used to but is pretty nice. Seems like updates disconnect some sensors which then need to be reconnected but otherwise it does everything.

Broke the screen on my 540, so I upgraded. Much prefer the touch screen for using the computer in ride.

Great battery and touchscreen

Was nervous about the touchscreen for wet conditions but it works great. Battery lasts way longer than I'll ever ride in one go. Still figuring out all the cool features. If anything that's the hardest part.

It has all the functions while still being light enough. Plus, the solar feature adds so much more battery life.

Great upgrade from my Edge 530

Love the touch screen and faster UI from my Edge 530. My only setback is encountering a screen lockup after charging it. But also not sure if the solar version is really needed and just a tad bit dim of the screen

edge 840 solar

So far so good. I have used in on the road and MTB. On the trails has limited solar capacity due to coverage of the trees but when there wasn't any tree coverage it charge well through solar. I don't have any complaints about it. Easy to use for a beginner and has good connectivity with other sensors for more advance riders.
I thought i would not like the touch screen from previous experience with touch screens but even when sweating on it it did not give me any issues.

Edge 840 Solar
on March 4, 2024

I picked up an 840 Solar after losing my Edge 830. One of my biggest needs is battery life [rides 24+ hours happen at least a couple times a year]. The 830 allowed me to turn of the screen and the battery lasted a very long time. The 840 does not, so even with solar charging, it gets depleted much, much faster.
Aside from the lack of that one functionality, it is a very good device.
