Ups and Downs: Solar is Pointless

I bought this just less than two years ago.
Positives:
Turn by turn directions and screens are very helpful.
Allows music control on spotify.
Pairs nicely with my garmin varia radar/light.
When it shuts off, my light shuts off.
Mount is simple and compatible with standard garmin/other mounts.

Randomly stops pairing with my Garmin heart strap. Bought a new hrm and still have the same problem.
Conserving battery is really confusing and currently it will say 100% for 2hrs of a ride, and then drop to like 29%.
Solar does NOTHING to recharge it. It's pointless. I have ridden in the sun for hours and not even maintained close to the charge I started with, and haven't noticing it slowing down. Don't waste your time with the solar. Part of me thinks it actually creates issues.
Like most gramin running/biking devices, the setup of fields is complicated and not intuitive. I had to watch multiple youtube videos to figure it out, and return to them each time because it's too many steps for my small brain to retain.
With that said, Garmin is a great company and their support is usually awesome.

Typical garmin, tons of functionality, took time to tailor it to my in ride needs. Way more data/ options than my previous wahoo system.

Used a few times and returned it.
Battery not holding a charge. I would charge after the ride and next time it was 80-something percent. The following time it went from 100% to 65% between rides.
Solar charging is nearly useless. Gained less than 10 minutes on a 4 hour ride.

Love the edge 840 solar

I love this. I can see the route and it even tells me when a climb is coming. With the solar it has tons of battery life. I’ve ridden 200 miles and it’s only at 45% battery.
