Great bike computer

I upgraded from my edge 530, and it does everything it did and so much more. The touch screen is fantastic. The solar charging is a nice bonus for long days. Can't go wrong with this one!

Best Edge Yet

I have more Garmin devices than I can count, and have had at least five different Edge Units. The Edge 840 with solar is the best Edge I've ever used, by quite a wide margin. It is reliable, remains connected to my phone (no more sync headaches like with prior versions!), has every feature Garmin has devised for cyclists, and the touchscreen with buttons is as flexible and helpful as they come. The Edge 840 Solar is the pinnacle of Garmin design and engineering to date.

not worth the premium over the 830

Have used this on a couple of rides, and it hasn't proved to be a good investment. I've been using the 830 and bought the 840 solar as an upgrade for better navigation. So far, not impressed and would like to get my money back. The solar cell doesn't really extend the run time, the screen is relatively dark and the navigation doesn't appear much better than it was with the 830.

I spent a lot of money on this this unit, expecting it to be a big upgrade over my 830. So far, haven’t seen anything that makes me think it was a good investment

Nice new interface, better battery, glad I upgraded. Only wish Garmin would develop a Apple Watch Connect app so I can leave my phone at home while cycling.

I bought this Garmin just under a month ago and I love it it has a great display a lot of futures with mapping that I never had on my old Garmin and the solar part is amazing
