Best Edge Yet

I have more Garmin devices than I can count, and have had at least five different Edge Units. The Edge 840 with solar is the best Edge I've ever used, by quite a wide margin. It is reliable, remains connected to my phone (no more sync headaches like with prior versions!), has every feature Garmin has devised for cyclists, and the touchscreen with buttons is as flexible and helpful as they come. The Edge 840 Solar is the pinnacle of Garmin design and engineering to date.

As a replacement for my old 540...

It's probably a no-brainer as to why this was a HUGE improvement! Everything works great, and the additional data has been very useful!

I’m keeping it, almost perfect

*photo is of the the larger 1040 (or whatever #it is garmin, it was unnecessary for me and i prefer the 840).
Plan ahead for time to sit down with necessary charging, WiFi, and account login information to setup the device.
Once setup - it’s awesome. It lasted 6 days (lots of desert sun exposure) on the solar charging, had at least 6-10 different routes loaded, sharing information/updates/notifications, checking the screens/switching between screens for various metrics during long bike rides…idk how much more I could have been using unnecessary screen time with it, but it never died (#teamamerica).
Also it does passively charge in the sun when it’s not in use!
I’m keeping mine.
Even though I wish it had more options/range for articulating how it sits on my drop bars. It’s not enough to negate the other advantages of it.

Decent bike computer but screen too dim

Overall this is a good device with lots of features, but the screen is very dim and difficult to read in either the dark or direct sunlight. The solar charging doesn’t offer much benefit either and the battery drains pretty fast.

Compatible with all you bike sensors and gadgets, great tool to maximize, track and improve your rides. Touch screen is a great advantage to toggle between screens during rides. Recommended

This was a gift and I am just getting started learning the features. So far it has been pretty easy to load a route and save the ride. I need to make the font a little larger or at least define the contrast better. Let me know if that is possible

840 Synching problems

It has multiple issues with synching. I can see it in history, but it doesn't come over to the phone or laptop. Super frustrating.
