I'm a huge Garmin fan for some of there reason's I believe people are committed to Apple products: they just work. Speed, cadence, HR, and rear-radar/light all come into this head unit as soon as I start. When I finish, I save the ride and it's automatically uploaded to Strava and Garmin Connect--where the rest of my the metabolic information from my other Garmin devices resides--making my progress super simple to track.
I upgraded to the 540 from the 530 head unit, and the touch screen works without a hitch. If there is one thing I do find annoying, it's that it gives me almost too much info while I'm on the road, which means I'm sometimes flipping through screens. As I get more familiar with it, is gets easier to use.
Little bit of a learning curve going from wahoo but once I figured it out I’ve loved it, connects with my wahoo watch for heart rate and battery life is awesome, loaded with features I’m sure I haven’t even tapped the surface of yet too.
Have had for couple weeks, not sure yet have had a couple issues, climb pro stayed on too long, and heart rate would not connect, my 1000 was flawless?

A little hard to set up with power pedals. A couple of calls into garmin and the data I wanted is now mostly available. Be warned if you bought these for rehabbing a surgery like I did, there is a minimum watt output for some functions to work. So you might not get all the data until you have gained strength and power. This was a bit disappointing considering cost of pedals plus computer and its a non-issue for some tech data like pedal steadiness, watts, etc on the 'watt bike' branded bike
I'm admittedly poor at figuring these sort of devices but even allowing for this the device is so complicated. I just wish there was a simple way of doing less - routes, turn by turn and recorded rides. That's it!

I am highly technologically comfortable. I own an EpixPro, GPSMap Mini, GPSMAP 66i, an Index BPM and Index S2 and use most every day. While the Garmin Universe is poorly organized on the best of days, the 840 has been the most frustrating. I'm going to try it for a few more rides and if it continues to be problematic I will return it.
