Good product, but setup is exceptionally confusing

The 840 replaced an 830. I notice the 840 startup is considerably longer than the 830, which is irritating. I also see the startup screen is not a profile, but some other stuff I won't use. The page only goes away when I start the ride. And, Garmin being Garmin, the instructions suck and I can't find how to change this. Setting up profiles is confusing, and when I start the ride I have to swipe to get the correct screen. The good news: it was on sale because it's discontinued.
