Great cycling computer!

After a lot of research I found the 840 to be the best option for me. I didn't care for paying extra for a slightly larger screen and I've heard a few reviews say the 540 was a bit unusual in terms of going through data screens and widgets. The navigation is fantastic and there's so many features that I didn't even know about (it's more fun to find them yourself)! Strongly recommending this to those who are in need of a cycling computer.

Loving Life With The 840!

Been really excited about the new 840. The GNSS location has been spot on and the navigation works perfectly(especially off road). The ClimbPro allows me to pace myself and attack the hills at the right time without blowing up. My first touch screen experience with sweaty hands has also been great, so happy I upgraded front the 540. The initial screen navigation was not the most intuitive, but watching a setup video would've fixed that. After a couple of rides, I'm extremely comfortable using it. Some customers that are new to Garmin may have trouble with the setup, so we'll have to help in the shop, but once it's set, the battery life, data screens, and navigation will make it a great seller. Wish the non-solar version was a little bit smaller, but not a deal breaker. Two thumbs up!

Overly complicated with unhelpful manual

There is no doubt that the edge 840 is feature packed but it is unnecessarily complicated to set up and too prescriptive in terms of defaulting to workouts and performance rather than having those as a choice. Yes there are useful features but basic data should be there out of the box with anything else a matter of choice.
