Loving it

I started using it about a month ago. I find myself pushing myself further and faster. Had to get the sensors for my bikes. Loved the tracking so much that I got a garmin Fenix watch.
The device is great. I love everything that it can do which is also a drawback. It isn’t exactly user friendly or intuitive. So far the ClimbPro has worked well for me and I haven’t had the same issues others have reported. Overall, I’m happy with the device.
I needed maps for riding in the US and Europe (Italy specifically), and the 840 has worked flawlessly -- I haven't been lost yet. The unit is quick and responsive, it gives me the feedback/data I need, and it integrates with my other Garmin produce (power pedals, HRM, etc).
I ordered the garmin 840 as I had previously used a garmin mk1 as my cycling computer. I switched to an Apple Watch instead and was finding the integration of the sensors I had on my bike to be possible not not as well integrated. After purchasing this computer, my watch stays at home and the integration with sensors is perfect. The mapping is also accurate enough that I have cleared my phone off my handlebars into my bag. This has really allowed me to streamline my setup while expanding my capabilities.
Great bike computer. I really like it. The only reason it’s not a 5 star is because the set up of the different faces and features isn’t super user friendly. You have to be willing to mess around and push buttons for about 30 min to an hour to get it, UNLESS you are use to Garmin features.
Great to have! Easy to use! Used it on indoor trainer during winter months. Was missing the HR sensor for more efficient stats. Currently only using speed and cadence sensor. I feel like I need more gadgets when using it indoors Looking forward to spring and taking it out on the gravel roads! A great gadget to have when you arrive an active cyclist but not essential to the beginner...unless you love gadgets üòÅ
I used to have the red Edge 500, and later on the 530, upgrading to the 840 is a nice step up. I can see how the touchscreen is helpful with the new interface, better integration with the app. Unfortunately, the screen size still is pretty much the same, with a huge bezel around it, which could have better use (solar). Also, a lot of the new features require other devices like power meters, which is not very clear in the descriptions. Also, Garmin needs to make it easier to switch between bikes, the Edge should be able to recognize based on type of ride or at least based on sensors (cadence/speed) - we shouldn't have to manually change this info every single time after every activity.
