Feature rich / Good build quality

Have had many bike and watch devices. For the bike the 840 is the best and I've tried several of the Garmin competitors. The one feature that I (and many others) have requested that I wish was implemented is Segment Power. Same concept as lap power but for segments.

Love the touchscreen

I bought the Garmin Edge 840 to replace my previous Garmin. The touchscreen is the best feature. No need to press all the buttons to get what you need for your ride. The device is slightly larger than the Edge 530 which makes the screen just a bit bigger so it’s easier to see.I am very pleased with my purchase and I also bought the silicone protective cover for it. Buy this Garmin!

Big improvement over Edge 830
on March 17, 2024

I dropped my Edge 830. The display no longer worked and replaced it with and Edge 840. The improved useability compared to the 830 is much great than I expected. I prefer using the physical buttons much more than the touchscreen while I am riding, however having the touch screen in addition to the buttons makes navigating the menus much easier and convenient before and after the rides.

The best product I have invested in. I am still learning all the bells & whistles on how to use all the features.

Best Overall Bike Computer
on March 12, 2024

I've owned many of the other brands of Bike Computers over the years. Garmin is overall the best in terms of build quality and features. The one thing I would like is having the app be able to configure the profiles, screens and data fields.

Major Improvement over my 530
on March 10, 2024

I struggled with navigation on my Garmin 530 for years, this new 840 does a great job and I do appreciate the functionality of the touch screen. I was skeptical of that at first...all the powerful features of the 1040 but in a smaller dimension.

A brilliant tool

I've had Garmin products for the past 15 years and this Garmin 840 is a massive improvement. With a combination of improved GPS technology to easy to navigate touch screens and buttons plus built in maps for every activity the unit is simply brilliant.

Garmin 840

I’m in a cycle club, and our routes are available through Ride with GPS. So that’s why I bought this thing , for navigating. Also when I do an organized bike ride like the assault on the Carolina’s or the Blue ridge brutal. I can easily download the course map to my device. I love it. A lot of the members use Garmin products also. And they didn’t know some of the features that I found that this thing does. It’s like having a personal trainer. I put in an event I’m doing and it gives you a training plan up to that event. Pretty cool I think. My bike has a power meter built into the crank so I’m able to incorporate that into the mix of sensors like heart rate and speed. I don’t bother with the cadence sensor. I’ve just never used cadence. But I’m really enjoying this thing. I have three bikes set up with mounts. So I can just switch bikes with just a twist of the hand. 2 road bikes and a mountain bike. Save your money and buy one , I think you will enjoy it. Oh me personally, I love the touch screen. Everyone is use to touch screens now with phones. It makes it quick and easy for me.
