Top loading scanner doesn’t work.

I’m sorry that your printer has performed poorly, and that you’ve come to believe it’s not a new unit. Your frustration comes as no surprise here. I want to help you resolve the situation, so I’ll provide some resources and clarifying information that I hope will get you there.

It sounds like the scanning trouble you’ve seen is happening at the document feeder. If so, I recommend you follow a guide on our support site to feeders that pull through too many pages at once or fail to pick up any paper at all. Find that guide here:

Regarding the scuff mark on the top of the printer, that does present a concern. I can’t say for sure what happened in your situation, but what you describe can occur when a printer is sold, returned to the seller, then sold again to a different buyer without being adequately inspected before shipment.

Regardless, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. I'm really loving this printer so far! The only reason I can't give it a full five star rating is because it constantly loses connection with my WIFI. I have to unplug it and plug it back in or delete it from my devices and re-enter it for the WIFI to connect again. However, the smart HP printing works all the time. which is fine with me because that's all I use anyway!
A little bonus is the fun sounds the printer makes.
