I am an HP retiree but still work for HPE. I hate to say it but this is absolutely the last HP printer I will ever buy. I have spent 10 plus hours trying to set up wireless and still no connection. Using only the print function via serial cable. Extremely dissatisfied with the printer and the total lack of any real support. I will share this experience with my employees, my friends, and my extended network.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has been so difficult to set up, and that you’ve not been able to complete the wireless connection process. It’s easy to understand why that would be a confounding start to owning a new printer – especially considering you worked for HP – so I’ll offer a resource and some information I hope will help.
I can’t tell from your review why your printer would not set up like it should, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have previously used HP Products (computer & printer), but this printer so far is the Best. It was so easy to setup. The print is so clear and the printer only takes two cartridges. Also the offer included a 2 year warranty and six months of ink. It’s a win-win!!
I found that I hated this printer. The on/off button is in the back and inconvenient to find. It doesn't automatically put out the paper catching "shelf". You have to remember to rotate it out yourself. The messages are hard to interpret. It sent it back.
This printer is exactly what I needed. It has the paper inside and all ports covered to keep dust out. It automatically prints on both sides and I don’t have to manually flip the pages over anymore. It's great!
Excellent quality printing when you can get it to work

I am a loyal HP customer, and I've had nothing else (computer-related) for over 25 years. I was confident that setting up a printer was basically "plug and play." Nope. I ran into walls at every turn, even though I've used HP Smart for years! I followed instructions, looked up help, checked and rechecked everything I could think of. Finally, I got things to finish setting up by accessing it via laptop rather than on my phone. I print from my phone almost exclusively, so getting my phone and the printer "on the same page," is sometimes tricky, which I did not anticipate from this printer! I would highly recommend getting a model with an information/operation screen. The very basic panel of lights that show up on an otherwise blank surface is not very helpful, but I realize that all of the interfacing is intended to be done between HP Smart and the printer with very little interaction on the user's part. I'm not a total techie, but I know my way around tech fairly well, and I'm comfortable dealing with this kind of thing, so I'm not just an old lady complaining about a faulty printer. Things are smoothing out now that Printer and I are beginning to get along. The print quality is quite good for a lower end model, and I've had no issues with two-sided printing. It's fast (for my use), and printing is quiet once the printer heads have clunked into action. Always take advantage of Instant Ink! (Love love love six months free!)
I bought this printer because my old one wouldnt print without restarting it. I have the same problem with this one. I am very frustrated and disppointed. Ibused to love hp products but i will be trying another brand when i save up enough to buy another printer. And its not the device i am using either because it has the same issue with other devices including hp ones.
