Difficult to use. Most printers are very intuitive on how to use them, this one is not. Also, it did not come with any kind of user manual. Often when I try to print something, the app on my phone indicates the printer is unavailable but won't give a reason. Then when looking at the printer, there are no error codes and it's in a ready state. The scanner seems to work the best but when doing anything else it's frustrating to use.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has been so difficult to use, and that the software and printer offer conflicting readings on the printer’s availability. I can certainly understand why these factors in addition to having inadequate instructional materials would result in a poor start to owning the device. I want to help you remedy the problems you face and have a better experience with the printer from here on, so I’ll direct you to some resources I hope will reach that end.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity, which sounds like what might be behind the contradictory messages. You can find that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
To learn more about your printer and all its features, or for help solving problems, you can access user manuals, how-to documents, software updates and troubleshooting guides here: - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/29256679
If any problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I made a mistake buying this printer online without going to a store and getting information on all printers. I have had nothing but aggravation, ex., as I sit here all the lights on the printer are blinking. Why? I have no idea. This printer has small paper capacity, the ink doesn't last but a few weeks (even the XL cartridges) and the cancel print button has not worked. If it goes offline I have trouble getting it back online. The front panel of buttons is not lit so you can't tell what features it has, if any. The power button is on the back which is inconvenient, and I've even had trouble getting the printer to turn off when I'm trying to cancel a print job. However, when I turned the printer back on the print job started up again. Bottom line, this is not the printer for me, and I don't recommend it for those who want a printer that will perform with few problems.

Hi, Susan.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed so poorly for you. It’s no surprise that you’re so frustrated, considering you’ve faced unexplained multiple error lights blinking, rapid ink use, the inability to cancel print jobs and design features you find inconvenient. I want to help you resolve the situation, so I’ll provide a resource and some information I hope will reach that end.
I can’t tell from your review what has caused these problems or whether they’re related, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution.
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty
Wanted to print photos, very unhappy with quality. Multiple lines running through them. Otherwise okay.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has rendered photo prints of poor quality. Your disappointment is wholly understandable, considering that you’ve seen lines running through your photo prints, and making this type of print was among the main reasons you got the printer. I want to help you remedy this situation, so I’ll direct you to some resources I hope will meet that goal.
First, I recommend following the steps listed in this guide to improving print quality, including streaked or faded prints, color or black ink not printing properly or at all, and blurred or fuzzy text: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06543527

The paper tray drawer keeps register open when it’s closed. Also I just replaced both the color and black cartridge and I have printed 20 papers and the black cartridge needs to be be replaced and it’s been 2 weeks.

Hi, Tammie.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed poorly. It’s no surprise that you’re frustrated, considering you’ve encountered an unexplained tray-open error message and your black ink cartridge ran out so quickly. I want to help you remedy this situation, so I’ll offer some information and resources aimed at making that happen.
First, the estimated page yield for the cartridge that fits your printer is 120 pages for the regular size and 200 for the XL, so even if you were printing high-resolution images, it seems like you should have gotten more than 20 pages. I can’t tell from your review why the ink ran out so fast, nor can I tell why the paper-tray error message keeps appearing, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. I bought this printer to replace a more sophisticated machine that had failed after a number of years. This printer is pretty basic though it does do 2-sided printing. It only has one paper tray and is fairly noisy. It is also a lot slower than the machine it replaced. That being said, it is a good value.
The printer works great, but the lack of a LED screen makes it feel old. Also, when it is on, there is a bright light that illuminates and doesn't turn off until you manually shut the printer off. It could be bothersome if the printer is in your bedroom & you forget to shut it off.
