Previous to purchasing this printer, I had an HP ENVY 4500. The 4500 printer had an arm that automatically extended to catch the paper as it was printed. The 6455e does not have that feature. It seems odd to me since they advertised being able to print anywhere because if you don’t leave the arm extended all of the time, the printed pages will end up on the floor.
I have now tried two of these printers and can't get them to function properly. Support is ok but takes hours to get through to anyone. I have now spent over 5 hours trying to get two printers to work and I'm out of patience.
The quality of the printing on this machine is so inferior to my office pro (which has had a good life, but now won’t work). I spent time on the phone taking pictures of printed pages and their way to resolve it was to send a new black cartridge. It didn’t change a thing. I have cleaned the print heads, I have aligned, all multiple times but it doesn’t help. I am getting a new one, which I do appreciate but I am not confident that it will give me the quality of printing I was use to with the office pro model. It was not significantly more expensive to buy the office pro series, and I am sorry I didn’t. Also, the darn thing has a light on ALL THE TIME. Coming out of the belly of the beast. You cannot turn it off, but only dim it. The controls are mysterious and require a manual to interpret. And when I turned off the instant ink on the old printer to transfer to the new, it makes the old printer unusable! It wouldn’t even let me run it til it was completely empty. So I as of now do not recommend this printer if you are used to the blacks being really black and the colors vibrant.
The printer is fine, I wish all of us that do not at this time have a smartphone to have a book to look at and help us use the printer. I did have to cable the printer because it would not hook up to my wifi even after being on for hours into the nite,
Always a problem getting this printer to do anything but eventually works so far after two uses. Difficult to set up since no instructions come with it. Difficult to use since need the HP smart application continuously on your computer.
I really like the automatic two sided printing feature. It saves paper and creates fewer pages to store, file or send through the mail. The smart print app is very helpful also, I can easily print and fax right from my phone!
