I have had the chance to review the Envy 6420e now for a few weeks. I was able to order and arrive in just a few short days. I wanted to test the Envy right away so I decided to load the printer through my phone. I do alot through my phone now days so Figured Id give it a try. The Printer arrived with the printer and a cable. Also included was a 1 page set up booklet in multiple languages, a declaration and security protection information. A booklet for instant ink was also included as you get 6 months of ink free included with the purchase. I clicked on the QR code and my phone started to download the apps and information that I needed and set up an HP Smart account. During the process I had some difficulty getting this attached to my phone, but it sorted itself quite fast. Having all the instructions online is handy but a starter pack with the printer with additional marketing would have been welcomed. Im pretty tech savvey, but there comes a time when you need to see all there is in document form as to what is included and how to set up. There was an additional piece of black foam included with no explanation and it took me several tries whilst playing with the printer to install correctly and achieve the result I was looking for. During set up I was also able to redeem my 6 months free ink and have already received a batch! This is in addition to the ink that came with the printer for immediate set up. The prices seem fair and actually cheaper than if you buy your ink from the shop and range from as low as 1.99 a month to small business range at 22.49. So I'm interested to see how that progresses and price wise feel its going to be cheaper and easier in the long run. This also includes recycling of your cartridges. So the phone was easy and was able to get set up with a few linking issues, but very straight forward.
I next had to set up the printer with my laptop. I have a refurbed HP laptop and I currently have another 3 - in - one printer that's about 10 years old. During my phone login I was able to email myself the download instructions so that I could load to other devices. I opened the email and got started. This however, was not as easy as I would hope. The printer would not talk to the program but I could find it another way. I tried to add the device to my existing app but needed a pin. A bit of searching and I found this and the printer linked up and was able to print. I now started on other features. I was able to scan and email my scan.

My review in one word? WOW!
I was impressed with how securely the printer was packaged and found it very quick and easy to set up. It's very straightforward and all done step by step in the easiest possible way, I have no doubt that anyone could set it up, even if they aren't very tech savvy
I've then tested it every way that I can, I've printed remotely, scanned, copied, and printed double sided. Everything I tried was so quick and easy to do, and the printing quality is fantastic.
I decided to put it to the ultimate test, I thought I was asking a bit much of it to be honest, and wasn't sure how it would perform, but I used it to to print photographs taken on a phone onto A4 paper, and I was blown away by the results! The quality is amazing, despite only coming from a phone, being blown up to A4 and only being printed onto normal paper! Good enough that I could happily frame the pictures I printed!
The colour and picture quality is just superb, even with the closer photo I've included which is a photograph of part of the A4 print, to show the detail and quality close up
This printer has far surpassed my expectations and I am amazed at the quality of printing and the ease of using it.
I also love the ink service! I think it's such a great idea, and it's really budget friendly as the ink usually costs more than the printer, but even once the trial is over I'm not going to be spending much a year on ink. I also won't have the hassle of going to print something and finding out that one of the colours has gone and I need to buy a new cartridge before I can proceed - especially useful when trying to print homework the night before it's due in!
I will definitely be recommending HP printers to my friends and family, and suggesting their ink service as I know that I'm not the only one to be frustrated by running out of ink or the price of ink, so I know that everyone will definitely want to sign up to this service!

With my old printer slowly giving up, I felt it was time to purchase a new one and this campaign was the perfect opportunity. Having received my printer within a couple of days, it was quickly unboxed and the setup procedure started. This was a little slow as the printer had difficulty communicating with the phone (you have to use a phone to set it up initially). This meant the initial setup process ended up taking a couple of hours in the end from start to finish.
Once setup, however, the printer has been very easy to use both through the phone and on laptops. It has good print speed and the fact you can print from anywhere is great. The 6 months instant ink is an added bonus although it would have been nice to have the option of delaying this trial as I am not currently printing as much as I normally would.
The only slight negative is the print quality is not what you would expect from a mid-range home printer although this could be down to requiring a change in settings.
All in all a decent home printer and well worth the price paid but would be hesitant to call it a 'pro' printer.

I found it difficult to get the printer to talk to my computer but once I had overcome this and linked it through my WiFi I was firing on all cylinders! At first I found it strange not to have written prompts for connecting, online, printing, scanning but now I have got used to this I like the very colourful light system. I love that the paper tray is hidden under the front of the machine. This is a brilliant space saving feature. I signed up to the complementary ink ordering system and it is great the ink is sent when I need it. Another plus is that the printer only takes two cartridges, one for black and one for colour. This is so much easier than my previous printer where I had to purchase five different cartridges. I am really pleased with the photograph quality and the speed of printing is good too.

This printer is a godsend! It’s got everything I need. I couldn’t connect it to my computer (because I don’t have the latest windows as I prefer the older ones), so I connected it to my iPhone and tablet, and it’s just great. Double sided printing? Does it itself! Just have to chose that option, and no more trying to guess which side of the paper needs to go down to the paper tray anymore. Need to scan something but you’re not home? With this printer now you can!! Scanning? So easy - this was the feature that really sealed the deal for me, as I do a lot of scanning, and it’s so quick! I’ve reduced my time significantly when it comes to scanning! I love the fact that you can have a subscription for the ink, you just need to choose how many pages you’ll be printing and how often you want it delivered - this is the best part, because it comes out so much cheaper than buying them in whatever shop.
The panel is touch, and there’s a light that makes the printer look so cool. It’s a sleek finish, not heavier than other printers, and very easy to set up.

This is honestly the best printer I have owned...

This is honestly the best printer I have owned, in my entire experience of owning this printer so far I have been very impressed with everything it can do, at first I was wanting a printer with a screen however come to realise that having a printer without a screen but full function can be done on an app this is definitely the preferred option for me to have everything in one place to scan, to print and to share to other devices etc. Upon setting up the printer it was very easy to setup, go through the calibration of the printer, linking my device wirelessly, simple and easy to do. Across the last weeks I have been doing everything the printer is capable of and had zero issues, everything works as it should, no errors, no problems. Love the light feature on the front telling you when the printer is ready and the touch displays on the front to print and scan. The best thing about this printer is the ink subscription. I signed upto that immediately, instead of offloading an amount of money of sets of ink from shops the subscription automatically sends the ink when you need it every month, it's alot cheaper this way to print. My overall thoughts of this printer is I'm very happy, it is well built, strong, can do everything I need it for. Thumbs up from me.

The printer is surprising light for its size; there were plenty of protection from transport's damage.Fresh modern compact design. The paper tray is underneath which I really liked. My old printer had to be loaded in at the top and if I was printing around my kids or storing it away, the paper would often get marked and folded over.
Setting up the printer is not the easiest because you have to use HP smart app, there is no other way to setup printer corretly .
A bonus was that 6 months worth of ink is provided at no extra cost with he option of signing up to HP smart to ensure you never run out of ink again. This is something I have taken full advantage of.
It is a reliable printer and I have come across no issues when using it.
The printer is very good and the quality of the printing including the colours is great. For this price printing speed is acceptable aswell. Being able to print from anywhere is great future.
Printer does not have screen , so any issues have to be checked through the app.
I have also used the copy function which leaves the copy virtually identical to then original as the detail is so crisp. I have also used the scanner to save documents on to the computer which was successful and hassle free. I would highly recommend this printer to small business and family use.

Having owned HP printers in the past (including the Tango) I was already familiar with the apps and approach to printing (which is great for smartphone use).
The printer is a clean looking unit in an attractive off white/grey colour which fits in with modern interiors and is pretty compact for an all in one.
The setup was quick (less than 5 minutes) and the unit has been up and running ever since.
Like previous devices, wifi does seem to have its quirks. I have noticed a couple of times it has failed to connect to the network, however, I think this is more to do with mesh nodes than anything else. It is certainly better than previous models so a good step forward.
Printing is fast, clear and reasonably quiet.
Scanning is excellent as the scan gets sent to your smartphone ready to be sent on, which is super convenient.
Copy works well too.
An added bonus is the ability to print photos from your phone for free (not taken from print allowance) as long as taken on that phone.
All in all I would definitely recommend this printer as I think its a good solid all in one which fits in with any modern home. Print costs are reasonable using instant ink and it gets used all the time as a result.
