A beast, to be sure... but finicky.

So I've used the IonPro 100V through the snowiest winter we've had in this part of Canada in 60 years. Bottom line, this blower can handle it, but there are some things... oi.
The Good.
Lots of reviews will tell you this thing is a beast. They are not wrong. This thing moves snow. Fast. Endurance is good, we got more than a few dumps of heavy wet snow and only once did the battery life not enable me to clean a 20m driveway in one charge.
The Bad.
The speed, as has been said elsewhere. On slow it is still much too fast to allow proper control, and to allow the snow to feed into the auger properly. Some minor parts are cheaply constructed, clearing tool mount clips, I'm looking at you...
The Ugly.
Most machine will have some quirk that annoy you, but that you can easily live with; see the Bad above. Some have issues that make their ability to do what they are designed to do, difficult to day the least; the Ugly. So what's ugly about the IonPro 100V. The auger design. Oh boy.
The auger is too small and doesn't grab the snow. Again this thing has plenty of power, but the auger just seems ill designed to grab the snow. What ends up happening is one of two things. Either the snow plows up in front of the auger housing, with the auger clearing what little it can grab before it is starved, or the unit (partly because of the drive speed above) will simply start to ride up on top of the snow. The latter problem means you have to backtrack constantly, the former just leaves you stuck trying to push the unit forward to force enough snow into the auger housing to feed the auger.
Adjusting the skid shoes as described in the manual helped to some extent, but did not resolve the issues to any great extent.
Final thoughts.
It would seem this good snow blower could become an absolute monster with a redesign of the auger, auger housing and scraper. Overall I'm a happy camper. With previous units, I had to rebuild or replace cheaply made carburetors every other year. Not having to deal with gas and oil is a plus as well. Maintenance is generally less. In short the IonPro 100 starts when you need it. I live with the above. But man what I wouldn't give for a decent auger on this beast.

Has potential but not quite there

This machine has power to do the job. Throws a lot of snow a long distance. Maybe too much power because the batteries don't last quite long enough for my 50 foot driveway. Not a total deal breaker but after a few minutes of dealing with snow, it starts beeping and shuts down. Batteries start fishing and it needs 5 minutes to cool down. Run 5 minutes and repeat. Also, there's arcing electricity between one of the power cables and the arm that holds up the chute. Been emailing with customer service for a couple of weeks now and they ignored the electricity discharge issue but were willing to exchange my battery, except they won't send it to me until I send it to them first, leaving me without a snowblower in the mean time. Spent more time dealing with the issues than using the machine.

Troublesome flaws concerning safety.

The snowblower - while not quite as powerful as the gas-driven snowblower we were replacing - certainly has enough power to do the job clearing the snowfalls we've had to date this winter - including the heavier plow leavings pushed in at the end of the driveway, Enough power to do the job was my primary concern, and it's not an issue.
My secondary concern - that of sufficient battery life to do the job - is a complete non-issue as well. Each time I've used it, the batteries indicated 75% charge remaining (assuming 3 of 4 lights is an accurate indicator) after approximately an hour of operation.
The unit is a contradiction in construction quality. The body of the unit and the major mechanicals seems to be of decent quality construction, and seem rugged enough. But some components - like the bracket for the tool, the discharge chute, and the controls are of poorer - almost cartoonish - quality.
But I have to give it only 1 star as the result of some design flaws that in my opinion have some serious safety repercussions.
The first is quite distressing - the interlock between the auger chute control lever and the drive control lever periodically jams in such a way that when you release the controls, they remain depressed and the snowblower "goes runaway" - the controls are in the depressed state without your hands on them and the snowblower continues to both operate the auger (and move forward.) This happens about 1 in 5 to 7 times when I release the controls to stop the unit. When it does, it continues to move forward until I can change my hand positioning to get ahold of the levers and actually force them upwards to stop operation.
This - bluntly - sucks.
The second flaw (in my opinion) is less of an issue but still concerning. When the drive control is depressed, the unit begins moving forward at a reduced rate of speed and then gradually speeds up during the first 1 to 2 seconds of operation - and then just at the point where you have to take that first step and are off balance it suddenly jumps from about a slow crawl to 100% of the forward rate the lever is set to. While I suspect this is intended as a safety feature over engaging the drive at full speed for the setting it's on (like a typical gas powered snowblower does) to allow the operator time to adjust to forward movement gradually, it's so poorly done that it has the opposite effect - introducing enough of a lurch at just the wrong time to trigger an unbalanced fall. And if it releasing the controls doesn't as described previously, it's potentially a very bad scene.
I'd like to like this snowblower. I just can't given the potentially unsafe implications of the poorly designed controls.

Hard to get simple parts

Unable to get shear bolts, the batteries take several hours to recharge and the materials used are cheap but other than that it throws snow a mile and handles wet heavy snow.

Snow Joe 24V-X4-SB24 96-Volt MAX iON+ - chute fix
on May 22, 2023

I have 100 Volt version and it is quite the beast. As the 96 volt (4x24) machine is the same physical model, some have complained about the chute being difficult to operate. Simple fix. Loosen the two bolts so the shute is able to move a little bit. Tilt it from front to back and find the middle spot then retighten the bolts. I did this with mine and I have no problems with it rotating anymore.

96V runs once, but no more.

Brand New and used once before battery or system issues emerged. Longest run time I have achieved is 20 minutes and now it's no usable due to error codes. Attempted to contact customer support and they require videos and testing before even considering warranty. Awaiting a call back from management that was promised but not done. For the cost this is a totally unacceptable situation

Sometimes struggles to actually throw the snow

Can be difficult to get it to start throwing snow, but works pretty well once you can get it started. You may get the chute clogged up 5 times and have to empty it out 5 times before you get it started though.

Poor construction

Broken ten feet into first use. Will throw snow but drive broke. Appears to be a very flimsy design relying on a cotter pin to keep the axle attached to a gear.
