good show clearing, hard to control

The snowblower did a good job clearing snow on our 7" Minnesota snowfall recently. It did stall though in the snowplow ridge at the end of the driveway. The chute control button is impossible to access when using gloves. This is really unacceptable for a snowblower at this price.

This blower's a beast!

Finally, I can retire my old gas snow blower. Used this for our first major snowstorm in PA and this crushed through about a foot of snow. It was a high price tag to swallow, but I've paid 100x more in trying to repair and tune up my gas engine that is still a pain to get started. Snow Joe, I can honestly say you did good. I also called customer service about a specific issue I was having and they were knowledgeable, courteous and professional.

Fantastic Snow Thrower!

It is the 1st nor-easter of 2021 and I finally assembled the iON100V-24. I did a first pass earlier in the day and the snow as definitely no match for this beast. Assembly was quick and easy, just a few bolts here and there. The batteries and charger came fairly charged, I did notice that the environment where you try and charge need to be fairly good temperature wise. I tired charging in my garage and it just would not come to temperature. I brought the charger in side and the batteries to get to a good temp and they charged immediately.
I have a T-shaped drive way which is gravel, I adjust the thrower and I do not pick up rocks which is fantastic. Overall, I am excited for when this storm is over to clear the snow and really give this monster a trial run. Wait back for the full results.

Extremely happy with the purchase

On 7 January, our area got 22 inches of good fort building snow. It took 4 charges of the batteries for my Snow Joe 24V-X2-SB18 with 5 ah batteries to get the driveway done. I am a 68 year old woman and couldn't face that again so I ordered this the next day. It came quickly and was well packaged. It was easy to assemble. Assembly is an overstatement. There are only a couple of screws. It is a big unit compared to my other blower. I was a little intimidated, but it is very easy to handle. Like everyone else, I broke the scraper clip before I got it out of the garage. I really don't understand why Snow Joe designed that part. The Snow Joe 24V-X2-SB18 has a perfectly good clip. I solved the problem by removing the blue clip and getting a couple of 1-inch double pipe clamps at the hardware store. Picture included. The scraper fits nicely on the cross bar. Some reviewers wrote that the self-propelled speed is too fast, even on low. Either Snow Joe fixed it or I like a faster speed. Generally, I used about half speed for blowing the normal 6 inch snow, and then crank it up all the way to return to the garage. I did get a second battery charger. Two batteries need two chargers. Change the clip and add a charger, and this is the perfect snow blower package. I am extremely happy with the purchase.

i got a great deal and a even better snow blower

I was scared to get the snow Joe because of the negative reviews, I had bought a smaller one at the beginning of winter and it worked okay but anything over 6 inches gave it a problem and it got snow everywhere, including in my face constantly matter how i moved the snow shoot.
I live in Minnesota so we get well over 6inchs easily and I decided to get one as big as my gas-generated snowblower, I don't like the gas one it seems to have a lot of issues, plus I don't like being bothered with gas so I felt like a battery operated snow blower would be a better option.
well we got a snowstorm last night and I was able to test out the big electric snowblower and it did its job perfectly! the batteries are very long-lasting it comes with four of them, I did my whole driveway including the bottom when we get a bunch of snow from the city trucks it took me about an hour, and there was still battery life left! the small one dies after 20mins then i have to recharge the batteries, so an hour process turns in to 3hrs, due to the short battery life.
this big snow joe was amazing i did everything in an hour no recharge needed and I have a pretty big driveway. the controls take some time to get used to but once you understand the controls, you're basically good to go i'm a woman 5'6 140pds so the fact that it's self-propelling really helps take the strain away!
the wheels on this are bigger than the wheels on my gas-propelled snowblower, I am very satisfied with this purchase I'll be sending back my smaller snow blower back and keeping this big one, it was definitely worth the money and the upgrade i hope this review helps someone.

Good 2 stage cordless with a few initial issues
on February 7, 2021

I was looking for a snow blower to tackle occasion blizzards we have here in the northeast. Also, the city plows come by later and usually always push the street snow onto my side and leave a big berm, which is hard to clear, especially at my age (71!). So… I got this one since I don’t have too much of an area to clear. You will need a ratchet set to assemble as the little wrenches supplied are not up to it. With my ratchet set it took a half hour. A dual battery charger would have been nice but only a single one was supplied. Also the batteries are difficult to snap all the way into the charger. Also difficult to get out! I moved the skid shoes to the highest position as my driveway is small hard packed crushed stone. Two initial issues: 1. The cleaning tool plastic holder broke immediately when removing the cleanout tool. A new one was ordered under warranty. I see others in comments had the same issue. I got 2 spring steel holders to replace this as I expect the plastic replacement if the same will break also. 2. 2: Pushing the unit around a bit I noticed the right rear wheel looked like it had slid to the left and started hitting the housing. Then I saw the whole axel really had moved left. Taking off the bottom cover revealed upon examination that some sort of cotter pin was not installed on the left side of the rear axle. Its job is to keep the above from happening. Again, I requested the missing part under warranty. Temporarily I used a cotter pin from my parts bin. Update: I just received the replacement pin. I installed it easy enough. During the test run, everything ran smoothly. Blizzard of Jan 31 report: The unit cleared all the snow easily. Even the berm left by the big plow. I had this issue though:: 1. When under heavy use, the lever on the right handle that controls the self-propel motor seems to get stuck and does not release. You have to push down on the lever under the handle manually to stop the motor. Oddly this does not happen when testing the unit in the garage. Something makes a loud click when pushing down on the lever like something plastic that’s stuck releasing. I have to contact SnoJoe about it. Pros: Quiet, Powerful, Variable speed Self-Propelled, Variable speed auger. Bright Headlight. Sturdy Cons: See above. Could use a rear differential which would make turning the unit easier on cement or asphalt as the rear axle is solid. But then again in the snow you don’t have the issue and it might be an expensive option.

In heavy snow, ground speed at slowest setting is still too fast, otherwise this is very well made and capable machine.

Cheap Plastic Junk

I expected a lot better quality from a machine I paid this much money for. It's mostly made of plastic. The chute cleaning tool broke off just removing it from the brackets. The chute and its associated controls are a joke. My biggest concern, however, is that it doesn't stop right away when the control handles are released - a huge safety issue that makes this machine absolutely unusable. I since read other reviews and this problem has been reported before. I requested them to come and get it and refund my money. They said they would arrange for a truck to come get it. It's been a week now and crickets. I'll give them a few more days and then involve my credit card company.
