Revive Pirates!

This set is almost perfect in every way. The fortress itself is amazing and the merchant ship is incredible and should honestly be a stand-alone set! Only problem I have with the set is there are a few breaks in the walls to account for the more spread out form. Overall my favorite set of the year even maybe this decade.

Built this over a couple days during the holidays after receiving it as a Christmas gift. Super fun to build, and finished product is absolutely awesome!! Have the original one sitting in my closest so hope to build that one someday for comparison. Can’t wait to display this one with my classic pirate ships. Would love to see more Pirates sets released in the future.

Bring back pirate theme

As kid I always wanted an original and of course pirate ship, my parents could only afford pirate island which was super simple build. I already purchased Baracuda bay/ship that is amazing but this seemed a bit expensive taking into account original was also quite simple, but what a surprise. It is super creative and quite a build, it fits perfectly with Baracuda bay. Between the two you have a quite a theme and playground for a kid and quite a satisfying scene for an adult. I wish there will be more additions to the theme.

Excellent modern Version

I love that I had to build the entire set without a large base like original. Was a pleasure to build and of course everyone loves the modularity, detail, playability, and size. If you were ever into Pirates or Imperial, etc this is a must have!

Eyes on the horizon!

A beautiful set that is not merely inspired by, but is a remake (and in some ways an improvement) of the original set! The addition of a sloop from another set of the retro Pirate themes was a fine touch, and gives the Blue Coats something to sail with, since the pirates either have the Creator pirate ship or the Barracuda. Since the base is built up this time, it allows for more modularity and customization. I can’t wait to see someone on Bricklink combine this set.
Now if only LEGO could just bring back the Pirates theme, or at least remake the newer Imperial Flagship to bring the Red Coats back and give them their edge against the pirates and Blue Coats.

True to a classic!

The original was the first big lego set I had as a kid, so I had to get this! Overall an enjoyable build although some aspects were a bit repetitive. I did like how the build can be split among multiple people due to it being modular. I wish it had more call backs/Easter eggs like the barracuda bay did, I would have also liked some printed pieces to show damage instead of the build strategy of showing exposed brick. Overall I’m really happy with and it looks great displayed with a unique color palette!
