Finally! A non hardwired valve

This WiFi valve has the advantage of being able to be put on any hose bib, even if it is not within hard wiring range of the main Rachio unit. So we get some degree of automation from it.
The only negative I find is that I cannot schedule it in the same group as my 14 other Rachio controlled valves. It has to be in it's own group. Not a big deal, but just less convenient. Can still do rain skip if needed.

Stopped working

The timer worked when I set it up, and then for a couple days thereafter, making me feel comfortable going away. Unfortunately, after a rain delay, it stopped working altogether and I wasn’t notified in spite of the app logging multiple failed attempts to turn the timer. Seems like a great product in theory but these glitches make it not worth my risking losing my bonsai collection so I’ll be going back to the manual timers I’ve used for years without fail.

Using as a Wi-Fi Pool Fill

I had a plumber permanently install the smart hose timer “inline” on my manual pool fill valve. Now, instead of reaching around a bush to manually add water to my pool (and sometimes forget that it’s on!), I just open my Rachio app, set the time I want the pool fill to run, and forget about it. It automatically shuts off and I can add water anytime I look out the window and see the pool needs water. I set the unit so I can easily replace the batteries when needed. My new “system” works flawlessly and I don’t have to go in the backyard to add water to my pool manually once or twice a week anymore! Love it!!!

So convenient

I have in-ground sprinklers with a Rachio controller but some areas of my lawn need extra watering. This valve works really well and of course, is seamless if you already have Rachio. If I didn’t have a sprinkler system then this valve would also be perfect for watering and you’d never have to worry about forgetting to turn off the water. For me, I put a sprinkler on an area that needs extra attention and water for shorter periods several times a day. Could not be more easy or convenient.
